Monday I crossed the border and played Copake CC in 75* weather. The sun felt good, even with the 20+- mph wind.
53* cooler this morning.

For Copake CC lovers: The super, Mark Anderson, has been (and still is) removing trees and upgrading the bunkers. Quite a new look when standing on either the 6th or 18th tees. The course isn't overburdened by them, but I hope he keeps going at it. Now, if they'd just make #2 a par 5 and # 4 a par 4.  ;)  The winter was kind to the turf and the course was very enjoyable.

Pete,

Copake has had its ups and downs, but it seems to be on an upswing now.

As we know, it's so far off the beaten path that you almost "can't get there from here". The nearest city of any size is Pittsfield, and its 45k people are 55 miles away. The towns of Hudson, Catskill, Gt. Barrington, and Salisbury have a combined population of about 22k, but they're 35, 40, 25 and 40 minutes away, respectively, and there is a decent amount of golf in those areas. I do think they've been aided by the closure of Boston Corners, Carvel, and Silo Ridge, but they haven't relied on that. The new owner has been improving the course,  there's a good pub menu in the bar that caters to the golfers, and the restaurant has an 'upscale' menu with quality to match. I think the F&B works well at CCC because it's one of those places that is so far removed from any other food source.  ;D

Plus, they have Mark.  ;)
