Howard,Thanks for the graphic. It would be really great is someone skilled in graphics could add the contour/slope into the schematics of the greenshttp://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central/hole-locations-round-2-augusta-national/
Incidentally, I had dinner with someone on The Masters committee a few months ago [whose cover I won't blow]. He was describing how they've got the greens mapped down to the foot, so they know EXACTLY which hole locations will produce more or fewer birdies. Just moving the hole location a foot or two is all the difference between balls funneling INTO the hole and balls just missing ... and they use that knowledge to predict scoring and fine-tune the setup to get what they want.
Update for everyone except Patrick:No. 5 is 6-under so far.
It is really amazing to see those hole locations when you think about the severity of the greens. If #5 is an easy one, it's probably the only easy one of the day.Incidentally, I had dinner with someone on The Masters committee a few months ago [whose cover I won't blow]. NOT going to happen
I read it that Pat wanted Doak to acknowledge it...Bill,You are correct.Tom,Well ? ................. We're waiting In any event, it was a helluva effort Bryan. Only problem is you just gave Pat more ammo!It was like stealing, like taking candy from a baby.

OK, but if it plays at par or above, what do you lose ?How about declaring for 30 days that Pat Mucci is the most astute amateur architectural student that you know I would be happy to take the wager myself, except I haven't seen where the pin is, and I suspect the players are unprepared for it.

Good thing I didn't take the bet! But, it was fun to check back on the scoreboard periodically through the day to see whether you were right. Did you expect it to be that close? Tom,I did NOT expect it to be that close. Here was my thinking:The entire field was playing today, those that were playing well, those playing poorly and those playing average.I didn't think there would be many eagles, but I did think that there would be doubles and maybe worse, hence I didn't think that under par would be the average. I was very surprised, but, I also felt that tee location would be a major factor, but I had no way of determining where they would be, so I rolled the dice. Now, if you asked me to take that bet on Saturday or Sunday I wouldn't take it due to the refined quality of the reduced field

Take out the mid-ams and the guys playing lousy, and it would have been a different story. Many years ago, Scott Verplank said something to me I'll never forget: he said that people who watch golf on TV overestimate the pros' games, because we only see them the weeks they're playing well.
