From John McPhee's 2010 New Yorker article on the Open Championship:



Look at the shadows falling upper left near 12 tee: shows the angle of the sun. What time of day and what time of year do you suppose this picture was taken?

Not sure Mark, but someone smarter than me may be able to figure it out. Sad to say (in a way) that this photo is probably historically significant. Hopefully the R&A has everything mapped like ANGC to document the changes though... Hold on to it tight!

Given the sun seems to be in the north west and the the shadows are quite long, but the grass still has a little colour, I'd guess it was an a late autumn photo. Could be wrong though...
