I was in that area visiting someone at the Tomah Vets Home, which is near the new Keiser project Monday, 31st. (so no April Fools joke). It was the first real sign of spring with 62* temperatures, so I took a detour to do a 'drive-by' of the project land site. I saw no staging or evidence of equipment being brought in yet. The last time I looked for the property, I missed the intersection by a mile or so east of the actual project site, and wasn't too enthused. As noted earlier, the land changes in elevation frequency of rolls and this site looks really golfy. Someone did go out on ATV trails and posted photos of land you can't see from the road, among the hillocks and hollows more away from the roads. I suspect once they get to grubbing and clearing the pine scrub and exposing the sandy hilly terrain, the irrigation and then seeding/mulching may go rapidly. I wouldn't be surprised if this has a soft opening by late summer/Fall 2015, if they get going soon this spring.
I suspect the land real estate rush is now on. There really isn't much on the boundaries of this property except that which lies on the Pentwell Lake just a mile and a half west of the site. But, the land around Lake Arrowhead Golf Course (Jeff Brauer's design) only minutes north of this land, is well developed.
i guess with a full service lodge like Bandon Resorts as a focal point on this property, this may make the project attractive to those that would do a multiple day stay to play. The drive to the property up hyw 13 or from the county roads to the location is sort of bleak and doesn't tend to build great expectation via the "journey" to the property, like Bandon or Sand Hill courses do.
