In my one visit to HQ I asked one of the ladies serving drinks where I could find the "Gents?"
She was smiling when she pointed to an unmarked door and said "I believe you can find what you need through there."

Dawson is tidying up the inbox before he gets his gold watch.   I just checked out side and could see no evidence that the sky is falling.

THis was reported on BBC radio this morning.  Times are changing......
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Interesting.

Any idea how long it would take for someone to work through the nomination for membership process?

Hmmm... will they actually let any in though.

And what chance Muirfield follows suit? Unlikely?!

Not really. They turned it down last time there was a vote on this. No need to look for flying pigs until September.

This has been a divisive issue for the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (not The R&A, that's the commercial arm of the club, and full of many talented men and women) for some time. A vote by the members has yet to be made, but those with a sense of equality will welcome this announcement from this influential club.

The current Membership nominations can take several years to come to fruition.

It is my hope that those already in the book will not be jumped by someone with a distaff agenda.

Bob when the MCC voted to elect lady members a number of honorary members were elected immediately, this didn't affect the waiting list for full members which currently stands at around 24 years. I'd expect the R&A to do the same if the vote is carried.

Bob I'm mildly surprised there is no postal or proxy voting, The Times suggests around 350 attend the AGM which means to be carried the vote could be won with 210 votes or 8.4% of the total membership. That's as low as the "unequivocal mandate" our unions strike on!

Received this from Ed Keith, an Olympic Member.

"That is exactly what happened at the Olympic Club. The women were advanced to the front of the line for the first three or four years. They are no longer given special treatment".

Mark,

This was put to the Members some time ago and the consensus was to remain all male.
I do not think this was a ballot measure.

Bob.
