Home of Reflection Bay(Nicklaus) and The Falls (Weiskopf), both of which have been closed, and South Shore CC (Nicklaus) which has remained opened during the "Great Recession," plans have been made to reopen Reflection Bay by John Paulson, the new owner and hedge fund big deal:

What a mess.  I've been there twice and played the South Shore course which was horrid.

If Paulson can succeed here it will be a miracle.

I'm sure he wants to make money off the place, but revitalizing and running two golf courses would be less than pocket change for Paulson.

I would imagine he has water rights locked in - can't imagine water will be getting any easier in the desert unless there is a significant change in the snow pack over the next couple of winters. The winners and losers in the southwest will likely depend more on water access than architecture at some point.

I played Reflection Bay not long before it closed. It was really an entirely unremarkable Nicklaus course. A course in the desert with no indication that it was a desert course and quite a bit of manufactured water hazards ...

This kind of community is destined to struggle in the desert as water becomes more scarce. I can think of a few places in the Phoenix area that seem likely to meet a similar fate.

What's going to happen to Coyote Springs which is even more remote than Lake Las Vegas.   I don't think a single home was built.  I assume the Nicklaus course is still open?
