Latitude 40N/40S and 3,000 ft elevation
« on: March 06, 2014, 09:25:21 PM »
I am interested in putting together a list of great courses at latitudes of 40 (N and S) or just above 40 and elevation in the 3,000 to 3,500ft range. It would also be interesting to get grassing information for some of these courses.

California, Utah and Colorado are obvious candidates. Any in northern New Jersey or souther Pennsylvania? Spain, Italy or Japan?

Tasmania or North Island New Zealand?

Ballyneal, Dismal River and Sand Hills all sit around N40-42 and 3000-3700ft. Bend Oregon is also near that latitude and elevation. I can't think of anything else noteworthy in the states that is near 40N and 3500ft.

Clear Creek Tahoe could be close. It may be too high in elevation.

There's tons and tons of great courses back east at 40N, but the highest among the real greats (Oakmont), is still only 1400ft or so.

Thanks Ben, that is a great start and pretty decent courses!
