When refering to a Course is designed by:

Question.

A customer of mine.  Manchester Country Club in NH, a Donald Ross course built in the 1920's asked me a question today.

With the old architects who aren't affiliated with an active design firm (like Ross) how do you signify in writing they are the designer.  Is there an accepted way for it to be written, or is it all just a matter of that person's preference?

Many active designers have logos and branding that are used in collateral. 

But with this type of situation should a bag tag, or a scorecard or a yardage book say:

A Donald Ross Design   ?

Designed By: Donald Ross  ?

Golf Course Architect: Donald Ross  ?

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Wow I would say not to overthink it!

Manchester is a good track...played it last year for the first time since the New England Amateur back in 2002 or so...the revamps were pretty neat.

My club, a 1929 Ross course, says it this way: Donald J. Ross, Golf Architect

I don't think it should say any of the above.  A private club should be above that sort of crass marketing slogan.  No mention of the architect on the Scorecard or bag tag is appropriate for a private club.

If the club values it's architectural heritage then a page or half page on the history of the club in the yardage book is appropriate.
