This is brilliant. We've solved the Dustin Johnson on the 18th at Pebble problem!

I think we could learn a lot from those early days in Florida.  For example, here's how they handled the caddie issue.  Solves all the problems.  No need to buy a fleet of pushcarts, pay them in straw, and you never have to worry about them being too chatty.

And I'll bet that trunk works great for picking the ball out of the hole.

Plus, they'll work for peanuts.
Golf history can be quite interesting if you just let your favorite legends go and allow the truth to take you where it will.

Just back from safari.  I have seen plenty of evidence you wouldn't want Elephants ahead.
Let's make GCA grate again!

This isn't quirk; it's tomfoolery.

There's certainly whimsy but I think it qualifies as quirk assuming they needed to lengthen the hole. And this course was quasi-famous for being short. Not sure how familiar you are with Useppa but it's not a big island. No cars and no bridge to get there.

A solution for MacKenzie's 18th tee at Cypress Point perhaps Mark?

Beautiful.

As my man Cosmo Vitelli says in "The Killing of a Chinese Bookie", when someone suggests that he has 'class' - "No - style, not class".

I bet you could get a martini on that boat too.

Ah, we live not in conservative times, but in profoundly dull times. We're either all too rich, or not nearly rich enough, to have much whismy!

Seems a lot less crazy than floating green ::) ::) ::)

I think we've discovered an entirely new class of tee. Grade level, built-up, square, oval...now we have: Boat Tees.

There's even a song:

Boat tees
Boys on the course played from boat tees
Visitors scored from the poop deck
Everything seems to be wrong

Lately, newspaper mentioned cheap air fare
I nearly flew off The Pirate Ship Tee
I'm close to bodily harm

Eighty degrees and the game's on
Nobody cares they are way too far gone
Screamin', "Boat tees", something to keep 'em all warm
