VIDEO: "A Day at Wolf Point Club"

A very well done teaser of the private Wolf Point Club in Texas, designed by GCA's own Mike Nuzzo. Enjoy.

Thanks Eric.  Great memories of Wolf Point rekindled.

Is it possible that Nuzzo is carrying even fewer clubs than in the past?

Very nice. Throw in Chad Maulsby and that's one heck of a segment.  :)

Thanks, Eric.

It's very nice to get a reminder of that places like Wolf Point are out there, that such architecture/design is being created, and that folks can get to enjoy such an idyllic setting and experience.

Well done everyone

Best
Peter

I've had high expectations for Wolf Point, but after seeing that video they just went higher.

It looks like absolute perfection.  Great job, Mike.  Great job!

Looks great and I hope to get there sometime in the halfway near future.

Is there a version of the video with no piped in music and with the actual audio?

Thank you Eric & fellas.

The director, editor, cinematographer and cameraman, Scott Wilson, does great work.
He was responsible for the cinematography of The Wandering Golfer (good call Mark on Chad Maulsby) among other items many have probably seen.

He spent 2 days at Wolf Point, sans clubs for some crazy reason?
In part to document what we did so we could share with others.
Don Mahaffey and I were both interviewed too.
There will be more videos.

Scott was also filming to produce an idea he has been developing for some time.
Having a golf course to oneself for filming is much easier.
I do have a portion of that work as well - it is pretty cool.
But while there are no other distractions, carts, paths, people, the wind is certainly a factor when filming.
So JLahrman there is no raw audio, as it would be mostly the wind blowing.

Bill that bag holds D, 4, 6, 8, W & Putter.
I have been heeding Dan Kings advice by not going any lower as it won't be long before I'll be playing without any clubs at all.

Cheers

Mike,

The place looks great.  Congratulations!

I do love the one hand carry bag, no shoulder strap required.

I see. I was just wondering what was being talked about in a few of the scenes. I'll look forward to the additional videos.

I think Dan moves his ball around the course just using his incredible mental energy!   ;D

Cuts way back on the number of clubs required.

This concept may have legs, particularly with recent legislative initiatives in CO.  Thus, perhaps a new niche in GCA where courses are designed to be played mostly in the overactive imagination.  One would take a comfortable swinging club and a putter, but no ball necessary.  One would tee an imaginary ball up, imagine the perfect drive, then step in and hit the imaginary ball perfectly with your favorite club and stand there posed and admiring the imagined ball flight landing and bounding through the perfect imagined LZ, walk to that spot, hit another imagined ball, perfectly flighted to the perfect approach LZ and depending on if you are a player of the ground or aerial game, watch the ball seek the hole.  Maybe, you like a challenge and leave yourself a twelve footer right to left or left to right down hill breaker - as you like, and use the only other club you carry the putter, to perfectly stroke the imagined ball into the real cup.  But, be suspicious if your fellow playing competitor makes too many birdies and eagles, as he is either sandbagging or too high to play fair.

I think a few moments on the video's audio track of that obvious wind whistling might enhance the flavor of the setting.  But Mike sure looks comfortable and fit on this stroll in the park.   ;D ;) 8)
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Mike, you are getting close to taking a page from my brother's playbook.  He routinely carries more tins of beer than clubs in the bag; not hard to do when he clubs consist of 5 wood/putter   8).

I gotta ask, it looks like you guys were teeing off from the edges of the greens.  Are there no formal teeing grounds?

There is nothing formal about Wolf Point
There are two heights of cut
A gang mower for fairways and a greens mower
The tees are cut with the gang and many are hard to find as you can play from anywhere
Yes we are teeing off standing on the first green

Sean,
Now all we need is a fourth ;) ;D
though your brother might need   a bigger bag to play with me..
Certainly is the right venue

I like the music on the video...
"Let's slow the damned greens down a bit, not take the character out of them." Tom Doak
"Take their focus off the grass and put it squarely on interesting golf." Don Mahaffey

Cheers.

Jeff - My bro has two basic rules; if its too cold to drink he won't play and carts are mandatory - so yer covered.  BTW - if you want to give my bro some spanners he is happy to chuck them in his TOUR BAG (he used to have about 30 sticks many moons ago and play eenie meenie minie mo golf), but there is no way he will buy sticks p- far too sensible for that.
