Golf Digest has published their top 100 courses for the first time.  Some interesting positions for some courses

Any links Ashe? Really interested to see this...

No courses listed as #32 or #94 and Riviera is double listed.  One could argue these aren't the most egregious errors.

And the description of Royal Melbourne sounds a little bit like the course they have listed #1...

I've been lucky to play the hole pictured for #29 SFGC quite a few times.  Ironically, none of those plays were during my rounds at SFGC.

Very interesting list! Anyone know anything about this new Korean course? St George's Hill at 77 - big honour for them.

PS - Sheshan? Seriously? I've been there and it is not a bad course it but nowhere near in the league of the other courses on that list.

Does it say anywhere, how the lists were really compiled?  Are they using scores from their overseas affiliates' local rankings and trying to fit them together somehow?  The order of inclusion for the foreign courses pretty much follows the GOLF DIGEST KOREA, GOLF DIGEST CHINA, GOLF WORLD UK lists [maybe not the latest GOLF WORLD list, I don't know].  Anyway, the main difference between this ranking and the other world rankings [GOLF, LINKS 100, etc.] is the high rankings of a few courses in the Far East that don't show up anywhere at all on other lists ... likely because they are token entries meant to give the local affiliates something to brag about.

I played the one course at Spring City last year and walked the other ... to suggest they are both in the top 100 in the world is to admit that you have no idea what you're talking about.  Having those two, and another two in Korea [just coincidentally owned by another big group], raises the possibility that advertising dollars might have played a role.  I suppose someone might say the same thing about Barnbougle or Bandon Dunes, but those courses have been ranked highly by everyone else, too.

I read about five of the course descriptions and gave up. What a complete embarrassment for Golf Digest.

So essentially if you look at the courses by country list, GD has a brand new list of Top 50 US courses. Pinehurst makes a pretty big leap to 21st in the country and Bethpage jumps to 16th. I love BB, but I would probably flip those two.

With Riviera being double-listed, clearly we know which course one of those entries is supposed to be.

Really bad to put this up - Riviera up twice, looks like they fixed the missing #32 but now #35 and #34 are in reverse order, #94 is still missing, etc. Regardless of what the courses are, I think we can all agree that the ranking should be in order from 1 to 100 (or 100 to 1), there should be a course in each slot, and courses should only make the list once.

The Links @ Fancourt wouldn't have been my guess to fill the missing spot.

Thanks Mike.

To be fair, I've had some better sites than he's had.  But that's not entirely an accident.

Riv is very good but not good enough to be listed twice! Interesting list to say the least.

Ha!  I think it is a reasonable position to have the course.

RM East is a surprise though.

Hey, you guys would know about this: how does the resort shuttle guests between the courses? Vortex? Also,  does the resort set up combo/reciprocal with other Cheltenham courses?

Thanks!
