A long time ago, I could have played Pebble Beach for about $20.  I chose not to, because the courses at Fort Ord, Bayonet and Black Horse I believe were only charging a PFC $2.50 or so.  So I guess I can say I look forward to Pebble for $20.  I am not holding my breath.

I live in Olympia Wa.  We play Tumwater Valley, the local muni, for less than twenty bucks.  Nice place, no neighborhood kids, cats, dogs, houses etc.  Like playing in a wildlife refuge.  It's not Pebble, but it is home.  I look forward to it every time.

Hyland Hills Golf Course in Westminster CO is home for me.  $25 green fees for rec district residents, and the course is a blast to play.  A better golf deal I have yet to find.

Sewanee (The University of the South), TN - $14 - Recent restoration by Gil Hanse and even though it is only 9 holes (has two tees for each hole to play 18), it is worth every penny.

Battle Creek, South Pittsburg, TN - Currently free - Worth every cent spent on gas and only 24 miles from the Sewanee course.

Aiken Golf Club - $22 - A GCA fave and one of my favorites.

I have a few.

At the top of my list is Trophy Club.  I really think you can't beat that course for the price.  I think we paid 32 bucks on a Friday with cart.

Seneca is a Louisville muni that I walked recently for 8 bucks.  With a cart in season I don't believe it ever exceeds $30 bucks.

A course I have not been to, but am anxious to check out is the Lindsey course in Fort Knox, Kentucky, right next to our country's riches.  I believe they are always sub 30 bucks with a cart, and I believe is a very good walk as well.

Tumblebrook GC in Coopersburg PA.  It's a 9 hole Ross built initially as an estate course that is now a local muni.  Greens fee is $11.

Red Bridge G&CC in Locust, NC opened at the height of the r/e disaster in ~'09 but has hung in there in part by keeping it's fees low: $44 top price for Sat. & Sun. a.m. tee times.  Course has rolling hills, uneven fairways and undulating greens, and when I last played it was firm and fast, though I don't know if that was the maintenance plan or just lack of $ for water at the time, I hope the former.

Pecan Valley in San Antonio, TX. I don't remember the exact amount, but I'm sure it was under $30. It's claim to fame was hosting the '68 PGA where Julius Boros edged Arnold Palmer. Fantastic course and great routing--really broad shoulders for a muni. Sadly, I think the course closed a few years back because of financial difficulty. If someone decides to make a run at operating the course again, I would certainly be a happy camper.

Marion GC or "Little Marion" as it is affectionately known is in Marion Massachusetts and sits in the shadow of the Bourne Bridge at the mouth of Cape Cod. This was George "The Captain" Thomas's first design in 1904 before heading out to the left coast to create courses like Riviera and LACC. The 9 holer throws the kitchen sink at you in the way of a horseshoe bunker, a ninety degree dogleg, cross bunkers and three par threes that are fronted by ivy covered rock walls. Additionally there are some odd berms and chocolate drops scattered about that certainly add intrigue to the mostly shortish collection of par fours. For $14 for nine holes this place is a blast and is a great warmup for Kittansett just down the road if you are lucky enough to find your way on.

Wildhorse is the best bang for the buck! 36 holes in one day for under $100 on an awesome course!!!! Would play it everyday the rest of my life and be happy!

Respect the game. I don't want to know what you think is the best bang for the buck. There have been a million threads like that. I'm asking for the cheapest greens fee you'll happily pay again.

I like Wild Horse and Lawsonia and Rustic Canyon and all of those "great value!" courses just fine. But I'm tired of hearing about them. Tell me about a place where I can pay $20 and have a good time. You know, a course that you'd be embarrassed to even admit you've played in front of Pat Mucci.

Ok, i'm a big fan of Aiken GC which would have been my choice number one.

I have also played and enjoyed Brecksville and Granville in OH.

But the best cheapest lately was Atlantic City Country Club which went for about $35 last January with a Joe Bausch GCA cabin fever outing. (You needed to be a NJ resident to qualify). It sells in the mid $200's during the summer. Low 50's temperature and fog and low clouds did not spoil the round.

Ok I apologize for being a Wild Horse homer.  The best course you can play for under $15 is just 40 miles south of Wild Horse.  Arrowhead Meadows in Curtis, NE is an awesome nine hole course and can be played for $12!!  It is a hidden gem and is a really neat nine hole course!  It even has a lighted driving range. You would not be ashamed to play this course in front of anyone.  Next time you go to Wild Horse Jason swing into Arrowhead for a quick nine at you will be glad you did.
