Bump!!!

When will those incessant and vapid posters who often use the space here to advertise their incompetence show up and make a meaningful contribution to the betterment of this site????  Just wondering! ::)

PS... Click on the Contributions Tab...look for your name...and ask if you've posted here over 500/1000/2000/3-4000 times without ever donating whether you deserve to remain immune to a calling out?

Steve. My contribution is the Google map linked below that provides a geospatial view to over 1,000 golf courses that have been lovingly chronicled on this site.  Hopefully that will redeem me for my oft-advertised incompetence.  Judging by the number of thread killing posts I make, the bar is high.   ::) :P :o

Now, the rest of you pony up!

Dave, bloody impressive work. Thanks for the time you put into compiling and contributing that map.

Nice to know all those contributing course reviews to this site are having them placed somewhere comprehensive and easy to search/find.

For those of you on the fence, open your wallets and throw a few quid towards keeping this site the vibrant resource it is.

For those who checked out the map and shared kind words, thank you. A couple of things about that link.  Somewhere in there is a filter option that you can use to filter by, say, architect?  want to see tours of MacKenzie courses?  Filter by 'architect contains MacKenzie'.  I don't think there's a search feature quite like that anywhere else.  Also, somewhere there's a link to download KML.  Click that and I think it launches Google Earth.

For those still on the fence, really, contribute to the site that inspires so many people to contribute their time and energies to enrich all of our appreciation of this wonderful game.

Now that most of you have read Ran's 2013 missive, and can realistically understand how rare and inspiring it is that he chooses to maintain this place sans ads and commercials, UNDERSTAND THAT IT TAKES $$$ to run servers and write code. Now we might even get to enjoy video and more enlightened content (can anyone say interactive?). These things cost dough!

If he wasn't so damn gracious (weak Southern trait ;) IMO ), Ran might demand that those who post nearly every day on every subject (read: heaviest users of this site!!) pony something up!

Please don't tell me there needs be any accounting done, or what right does anyone have to hound others, or it's purely voluntary.......blah, blah, blah......if you use it....make a contribution of something! Many of GCA's longest and most valuable members have carried the weight of helping Ran and Ben host this treehouse and now it's time for you deadbeats to step up and pay for yourselves.

Steve Lapper...epitome of the humble, soft-spoken "yawker." Yup, he's one of our best.

NOTE: This was "meant" to be a compliment. He is correct and it should be interpreted that way. My curt wording should not be construed as a criticism of the man in any way.

Steve, FYI, the "red" listings on the contributions page are not entirely accurate.  My Paypal went through on the 18th of December and is not reflected on the page.  So there could be others like me.

Awesome! On behalf of all those who do really support this place, thanks!!

Your word is good enough for me...I just want to see many of the (especially the multi-thousand) posters step up and do the right thing.

A bump as we near the year's end.  Please consider making an annual contribution to GCA if you haven't already:

Thanks for bumping this thread!!

It is that time of year, if you have not shown some LOVE for GCA in the form of monetary support, now is the time.

Personally, I want Ran to get to the next Fifty courses, including:   Oyster Harbor, Longmeadow,  Newport, Renaissance, Kingsbarns, St Andrews - New,  Castle Stuart etc. and so forth.

Friends:

Just sent in my 2013 donation.  Really easy - click on donations on the bottom of the homepage and instructions are clear.

Hope you will join me in supporting Ran's efforts here.  We are running out of time for this year !

Looking for more profiles and insightful commentary.

My $69 contribution for 2014 was sent reflecting my new protest to turn the 16th at Yale into a Par 4 and reduce Par to 69!  :D

My suggestion to Ran for 2014 is we add more women golfers, women from the industry and golfers from developing countries with an interest in golf.

To start the new year correctly, is there any way I can make a contribution in sterling?

Paul

Paypal has been added and it's really easy to use.  Just decide how much you want to give in GBP/Euro/Sheckles and it changes it to USD at a decent rate with no other charges.

If you haven't got Paypal IM me and you can send me a cheque and I'll do it for you.

Yeah, Ran...stop keeping the women out.

Big Mike, I don't suspect that we can actively recruit women to this forum, unless we actively recruit women to this forum. I coach a girls team but cannot remember the last time I golfed with a female. Familiarity breeds more familiarity, I guess.

Jim Kennedy,

Please be prepared. In addition to teaching an Autistic teenager how to putt on greens this year, I am going to teach an Afghan woman how to play golf at The Hotchkiss School Golf Course. I will need your help with both.

Happy New Year and see you in April with Fereshteh and Dustin.
