Yes I've seen some scenic ones but am I the only one who thinks....

They are an abomination.  

I never miss one when it's not there and I always wonder why I have to stop playing when I'm having a good time.

Allan Robertson did us all a disservice when he allowed the first Ginger Beer seller on the course.

I have some sympathy for your position.

I like a halfway house when the course is empty and the rain is ripping in or the temperature dictates provisions are required but can't stand the hold up they cause on a busy course. And it always seems to be the slow group in front that are equally slow at the halfway house but fail to call you through. And I'm still at a loss to understand why politely suggesting that your group plays through needs to be greeted with a begrudging look.

But I'll go for Louie's Hot Dog stand off the 5th tee at Sheridan Park muni in Tonawanda, NY.  Yeah, you need to work through a fence, but it's worth it!

To those who listed Pine Valley's halfway house, Pine Valley's halfway house is certainly unique in it's outside appearance and ball rack, but, from the perspective of "function" what makes it your favorite.

Diamante in Cabo has a great halfway house with mini tamales and green chili salsa, magaritas, tons of snacks and a great ocean view.
Props to Cabo Del Sol also for shrimp and carne asada tacos at the turn.

The "Sheep House" at Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club. The Ironmasters is my favorite tournament!!

I've heard the Ironmasters (9 holes of golf followed by a horseshoe tournament and drinks at the half way house) is not to be missed. Also, at the Manufacturers halfway, all of the tables have dice, and it's custom that each guy in the foursome takes a roll and the loser picks up the tab.

Another favorite in Philadelphia is found on the lesser of the two courses at Philmont. It's a round shack perched next to an elevated tee, and from my memory all that's offered is a big bowl of potato chips, Budwesier, and packs of Marlboro Reds. The halfway house on the other course is much nicer in selection and atmosphere, but that shack has a great vibe to it.

But my overall favorite halfway has got to be the St. Andrews Golf Club bar, stopping in for a pint before heading out for your second 18!

I really like the Olympic Club's halfway house(s), and The Preserve's in Carmel.  Chicago Golf Club's is also pretty cool!

Stone Eagle, hands down.   Sit down for 10-15 minutes and enjoy the amazing setting and views, with your choice of delicious freshed grilled tacos and other goodies while marveling at the ten holes just played and the eight to come.

Diamanté as well for me,great "comfort"stations,jelly beans ,soup,tamales and my wife says the best margaritas anywhere!!,
With the two new holes about to be so rigged the one house at the end of number 10 will e even more enjoyable.

But Sunningdale would also have to be on that list,so wonderful to bump into dog walkers and exchange conversations

I agree with you. Why cannot one get away without eating for a few hours? There is more bad blood made by the phrase "May we play through" than one can imagine. If sustenance is essential, go no further than Cypress Point. There is a small hut at the left of the eleventh tee; a table under cover shack with fruits, fluids, chocolate chip cookies and loos at the back.

No waiting here.

Absolutely, but, I do get to review their status once a month, for quality control purposes.

In terms of location, both in terms of the hole number/s and view, facility, service and food, I don't think anything compares to the halfway houses at MPCC, with the one on the Dunes course being truly exceptional.  So much so that we had a fabulous dinner there and the place was packed.  

The view ?   The golf course and Pacific Ocean.    A knee high wall holding 4 foot high glass plates to shield diners from the wind.
Fire pits to warm up the night and delicious food and efficient service.

I haven't seen a better, full service halfway house anywhere.
