@Tom Allen:
It is a beautiful picture, but not without flaws: the shadows are washed out and there is also little detail in the mid-tones. And so I believe that every picture in this thread has its strengths and its shortcomings. It's all in the eye of the beholder, so who knows: someone might just like yours!

My entry, taken last year on December 27th, and thus fitting snuggly within the "Stansell Rule":

And a Side B, only to show how gloriously colorful the Sandhills were on what must be one of the most unique "entry" drives in all of golf -- from Highway 97 into Dismal River:

I'm going to nominate Wayne Freedmans 2nd photo.  Its entirely unique, different than any other photo.  Technically its perfectly taken yet it confuses the viewer.  It creates emotion which is what art is all about.

This is a good choice. If you hadn't already posted, I was going to submit this one on your behalf:

Ulrich, understandable points.

However, I look at it as an opportunity to share  stuff without need for further elaboration.

The difficult part is in figuring out the formatting and getting it up. Having FINALLY done so,
why limit to one  photo? The first is the entry. The rest are gravy.

It's like a trip around the world.

As a an accomplished photographer once warned, "You know you have it bad when you stop playing a round to shoot pictures instead of golf balls."

That has almost happened. Almost.
