Thomas, it was actually "don't swat the flies, Jardine, they're the only friends you've got in Australia. "

During the same tour, he appeared at the Australian dressing room door to protest to our Captain that an Australian player had called him a bastard. The Aussie skipper spun around to his team and asked, "alright then, which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?!"

Same fly tale, different recollection?

Probably the most famous quotes attributed to Jardine are "All Australians are uneducated, and an unruly mob" and, when told that Aussies in turn didn't think that much of him,  "It's ....... mutual".

Someone in the MCC/English establishment is supposed to have said when Jardine was appointed Captain for the tour something along the lines of "He may win us the Ashes, but he'll probably lose us a Dominion."

Anglo-Aussie history, wonderful thing.

Roll on the Adelaide Oval on 5th December!

To get back to the golf, this Fanatics business at World Cup of Golf is appalling and the golf authorities should have jumped on it much quicker.

All the best.

They are horrendous. Unfortunately the PGA Tour think they're fantastic and apparently flew them to Ohio for the Presidents Cup - they will be trashing Australia's reputation for some time to come.

Chris, can we expect them to come and cheer for a repeat of the 2013 Aussie champion at next year's Masters?  Now, that would be worth the price of admission, to see how fast and in what manner they'd be escorted off ANGC!   :o ::) ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Fortunately the Masters is far too expensive for the tiprats who make up the Fanatics!

IIRC it is the Shark who is to blame for Fanatics' incursion into golf - inspired by their antics at the Australian Open and Davis Cup tennis every year, he declared that he wanted them at Royal Melbourne for the Presidents Cup in 2011.
