This is what stinks about aging. I look forward to 2017 at LACC, knowing I'll be 52 and having no clue how I'll get out there for a few days. Now I need to look ahead to 2021, when I'll be 56 and have no idea about how I'll get down to Seminole. Simply the best 3 days of golf (the practice round is important to attend.)

Great news. Now us folks from other parts of the globe who've been hearing for decades what a great course Seminole is, will actually get a a chance to see some of it, even if only on TV.
All the best

Quite a of run of US clubs hosting.

Maybe Pine Valley or CPC next? Would love to see Prairie Dunes get a chance as well.

Pine Valley hosted in 1985, I believe, so 2025 would be a nice 40 year anniversary present...

Is Seminole normally open in the early fall, when I presume this would be?

Sean,

CPC hosted in '81.  Prairie Dunes would be outstanding.

Way cool.

I talked to Ben on Saturday and he mentioned he was meeting the Seminole folks in December.  I couldn't figure out why but now it makes sense.

I'm headed to Palm Beach next week and will be playing Seminole for the first time - very excited...

Except that, as we learned after this year's Walker Cup, seeing a course on TV doesn't qualify one to learn anything from it.

This is exciting news as it will be the first chance for many (myself included) to see Seminole. But, I'm disappointed because it would be nice if the USGA were to decide to bring the Walker Cup out to the MidWest.

They usually open the middle of October.

So will they open early for this or move the tournament to later in the year? Moving it later could have big ramifications for those on the brink of turning pro.

Doubt that they're worried about it 8 years out.

I think it's great news.  Logistics are going to be a problem and it won't surprise me if they have very limited ticket sales?

I have no idea where they will park people?  There is very little space for any hospitality or tents?

Will they have to lengthen the course?  Make any other adjustments/changes to it?

I don't think they'll need to limit ticket sales. Similar metro area to Merion in 2009. I don't believe NGLA did so this year. Fact is, unless there is an archetypal figure on one team or the other, only golf denizens will head out to watch the event...unless it's for the chance to see Seminole. Unless there is demand to see the course, I doubt ticket sales will be truncated.

The Walker Cup traditionally doesn't need hospitality space. They had two tents at NGLA for high-priced clubs, one for merchandise and one for emergency services, as I recall. They put those on the driving range and used Sebonack's range for warm-ups. It looks like all the space between the clubhouse and the ocean will be perfect for tents. The USGA is masteful at pigeon-holing tents into unlikely places.

Parking will be off-site. Whatever that big place is across the state highway (to the west), they will be able to fit cars in there and perhaps build a temporary bridge/have people enter by the western boundary of the course.

Now if we could only get the guys who book the Walker Cup to take over management of the Ryder Cup...

I don't have a problem with most of the US sites for the Ryder Cup.  But the Euro locations are ridiculous, especially compared to what they could choose.

It was just an educated guess on my part.  I had no inside knowledge about it, other than knowing they were one of the nearly 40 clubs that had submitted a formal invitation to host the event.  But I had an inkling that Mike Davis wanted to see the event played at all of the greatest courses sooner or later, and Seminole had never had its turn.
