I am not sure I consider this a legitimate golf event.
Do scores get adjusted up or down for what time you finish relative to the field?
Is there a maximum time required between shots?
Do any of you know more about this?

Yes your total result is dependent on how fast you play, not necessarily your score.

What's it all about? Pretty simple: if you are fit, fast, and know how to golf your ball, you can excel at this niche sport.

It is almost incomprehensible to think that the best practitioners can finish18 holes and shoot around par in far less time than it takes the majority of golfers to play five or six holes in a cart.

Speed golf involves your total score derived by adding the time for your round to the strokes taken.

One is required to play golf; that is to say rake bunkers, remove, flagsticks, replay lost balls etc.

I may boast a nine fole score of 78 on Victoria- 39 plus 39. The best score I have heard about was at pumpkin ridge where the player completed the round in 48 1/2 minutes and shot a 66 using six clubs for a 118 1/2........awesome

I competed in the Oregon Speedgolf Open, it was a blast. I shot 4 strokes higher using only 6 clubs in just over an hour than I did the previous day when I used a full bag and took 3 hours+.

Its not how I would want to play all my golf, but super fun for sure.

As I understand it, there are only two significant variances from real golf.  The major one is that you do not have to play stroke and distance on a lost ball or out of bounds ball, you just play stroke, dropping from where the ball disappeared.  The second difference is that you can putt  with the flagstick in.

Bernard Lagat here on #1 at Bandon had fun and can run but doesn't really golf, props to him for giving it a go



the mentality of hitting and running allows you to not dwell on the outcome too much but focus on the shot at hand...aim hit run, aim hit run, etc...

is a great training method for those that may be too deliberate, as well as training you to create golf shots with the clubs you have
