Bandon Dunes Coffee Table Book
« on: October 16, 2013, 12:30:15 PM »
Call off your search for the golf book to put on your 2013 Christmas/Chanukah list....

The weekly GolfDigestix email newsletter includes a brief overview by Ashley Mayo of the new Bandon Dunes Coffee Table Book. (At least that’s what Bandon Dunes calls in online.) The book features images of all 85 golf holes from photographer, Wood Sabold, with text from Keiser, Crenshaw and Stephen Goodwin, who wrote 'Dream Golf.'

If they could bundle one of the "Collectors Editions" and a Bandon-logo'd leather MacKenzie bag for an even grand they'd sell out within a month!

Funny that this thread just went up. I was seriously just putting my Christmas/birthday gift list together this morning, and this book was seriously on the list. Please please Santa!

Assuming that the original run of books is 5...not everyone wants a MacKenzie bag nor an overpriced coffee-table book, even if she/he can afford it/them.

I don't think they'll "sell out," no matter the demand.

I liked Mr. Goodwin's first Bandon book. Lucky him, to get a second.

Makes me envious, actually. Rick Shefchik and I proposed a similar book to Mr. Youngscap of Sand Hills in the fall of 1996. I think the title I proposed was "A Vision in the Hills: The Making of Sand Hills Golf Club."

The answer we eventually got was: No, thanks. When it comes time to do that book, we'll do it ourselves.

Did they ever do it themselves? Maybe I missed it....

They could stand to have Jim Urbina's signature in the Collector's Edition.

The 5 medallions cracks me up.  I'm envisioning one of those late night commercials/infomercials with the painted bald eagle coins from the U.S. Mint with an "official" certificate of authentication and a display case.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Eagerly awaiting this – regular edition, that is – to land on the doorstep. Before 10/1, the price was $75. My card's been charged, so it should be here any day now.

If my father in law saw this, he would be sold...hook, line, and sinker!

My wife had the foresight to pre-order the book for Father's Day 2013 and it just arrived on Thursday.   There are world class photos of EVERY hole on the property with a brief background provided on how each of the five courses came to be.    It really shouldn't be called a coffee table book but rather a "lap" book, as it spends most of it's time there at the end of the day.

Needless to say, it got the wheels turning on how to make a return voyage in 2014.   From a marketing perspective, it's pretty ingenious that you can get people to pay money just to elicit an insatiable desire to give your business MORE money.

Highly recommend especially for those with long winters.

This book looks incredible, like one of those really good behind the scenes "Making Of" books about a great movie.  This makes for great golf reading.  If you haven't checked out the following Cypress Point book I highly recommend it:

+1 I flipped thru the whole book (display) in the pro shop, it has a nice story about each course including the original routing of MacKenzie National.

There looks to be a photo of each hole on each course and it is FANTASTIC and very current.
