Very much looking forward to this and to meeting all of you. I also prefer wearing long pants when I play golf so I'm happy to have such a wonderful excuse to do so, even if the temps are up.

I know it's a ways away but I'm curious if anyone has anything planned for Monday? We're flying out of Denver on the redeye on Monday and wanted to get in a round or two somewhere that's on the way back (Bayside, Ballyneal, Wild Horse, etc). We'd obviously drive and stay as close to the course as possible on Sunday night.
South Jersey to Brooklyn. @marrrkfedeli

If you, or your bag, aren't covered in a fine layer of sand...you simply haven't played enough, or played hard enough.

Tell me that is because of the wind and not because there are so many bunkers or waste areas that i will be in them all the time ;D

Rob,
In my experience, the sand on the golf bag is actually from the dust kicking up on the cart when you drive out to the courses.

Either way, I plan on being sandy, sweaty , tired and and smiling from ear to ear the whole time.

Looks as though we have a spot open for a single if anyone is interested. http://www.5thmajor.com/#!players/c1jxp

Soon I'll be asking for handicaps in order to begin the process of flighting the tournament, with the June 1 revision likely allowing for a tweak or two.

Very much looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone.

The 5th Major moves venues from year to year.  We are all hoping for a exciting new location in 2015.

You guys should have a tan or light-blue seersucker jacket on hand for the winner. It's hot out there in the summer, so you need the lightweight material, and the green and red jackets are already used by lesser tournaments/majors.

44 tall should work for a lot of folks (the tall helping the jacket to drape and hang with causal elegance even on a man of average height, and the 44 chest can be either a little loose or a little tight on most, the quality of the material allowing it to still look good).

A Sam Snead style short brimmed straw fedora with a hat-band in matching colour (tan or light blue) would go very nicely.

Folks should be allowed to take the jacket with them off site, but have to return in at the next major.

I wonder, since I live in Nebraska, if I'll ever get smart enough to play in this thing. Oh, the horrors of raising three daughters.  ;D

Sorry boys, but as much as I yearn for a couple of days at Yale with Timmy Jo Bob Martin, it is safe to say that the 2015 5th Major will be in the sandhills.

The seersucker jacket (in pina colada, methinks) could be the ticket. Of course we'd need two of them since it is a team event.

Seersucker is not allowed to leave the South.
Isn't this what you should be looking at?

Mark - one question: would YOU wear those threads? Anywhere?

I know that, for some, a seersucker jacket doesn't 'fit' the sand hills and the rugged outdoors -- but we're GCA, son, GCA.COM!  We'll put on that jacket, we'll wear it anywhere we damn well please, my fine young captain! Heh heh! Red and White

Of course I wouldn't as I'd look ridiculous in it. But Eric -- ERIC -- would look marvelous. With or without black hat. And unlike seersucker I bet they could whip up, so to speak, a fine buckskin jacket in no time, on site, from local materials using local craftsmanship. And isn't that what it's all about? Eric could start his own "farm to table" sartorial movement. Call it ranch to hanger or cow to closet.
