I became a Dick Wilson fan when I played the Doral Blue in 1975.  These photos of the current Pine Tree bunkers and greens look a whole lot like Doral in 1975.   It's a shame they ever messed with that course.

Bill,

Agreed, the "old" Doral was terrific.

What I never understood was their choice in consulting architects over the years.

It'll be interesting to see how Doral turns out. The few pictures I've seen of the bunker work are drastically different than Ron's work here at PT. I'll say it again, PT once again has the feel and look of its greatest years, just with new turf and sand. Ron spent A LOT of time reviewing the 1961 photos and the 1962 aerials. They were the blueprint to this project.

Pine Tree is an excellent example of a course that can stay true to its original design and still offer a test to players of all ability levels. It was also beautiful when I was there a couple of years ago and appears even more beautiful now. Can't wait to visit again!

Anthony,

I don't think the intent at Doral is the same as the intent at Pine Tree.

Rather than recapture "Wilson", I think they're looking to create a "new" course

Anthony,

I was a big fan of the original Doral and Dick Wilson, so I'd agree, but I don't believe that restoration is the object.

Or how many there were!  The Blue has had more face lifts than Joan Rivers!
