I think Bobby Wyatt is probably the most automatic, though he may go pro.   Gavin Hall has been playing very well and should probably make it even though he is only 19.   Jim Liu has been awfully consistent among the kids.

For the mid-ams, i'd go with whatever of the porter cupper mid-ams are playing the best.

Mark...I think that the USGA would like to pick Hall and Liu, or two other "kids," to have some continuity for 2015. They did this with Fowler in the past, with Brian Harman and with Spieth. They had each of those guys for 2 Walkers, I believe.

As far as Porter Cuppers go, believe me when I say NONE of the mid-ams have impressed me this year. I think that they were competing with each other, rather than with the field. It may go down as the biggest FAIL of the year for the USGA, even bigger than the FAIL of announcing the Fox deal during PGA week.
Coming in 2024

Off the top of my head, no, it hasn't happened before. What irony it happens at The Country Club. Francis Ouimet must be spinning in his grave.

Walker Cup: Just take the players playing the best now, regardless of age, and say that two mid-am notion was only if they were playing well.
