No thanks to Furyk and his excruciating routine. But Dufner's ball striking clinic helped the pace (fairways and greens all day doesn't hurt).

I was driving home and listening to Maginnes on  Tap and I thought I heard him say the final group played in under 4 hours.  I did not watch it live - Tivo it so I am not sure what time they teed off and finished.

Probably did, and that was expected because the televsion coverage was scheduled to end 4 hrs and 5 minutes after their tee times. They were playing a twoball.

I timed it at something like 3:58!  But the back 9 probably more like 2:10.

Uh, how else would you measure it IF there is a target pace?

I know what you mean, at my place you risk a post-round scolding if you finish in 4:00 on Saturday.

What better things did those two have to do if they finished an hour sooner?  I measure my rounds by time wasted, not time consumed.

What made this major different from the others in pace of play? 

Is it the course designed?  - tees are close to greens... 

Was is the officials putting people on the clock or penalizing? 

Was it the course setup?

Since they were the last group, everyone ahead of them had to be on the same pace.
