Mark Parsinen sells Kingsbarns
« on: September 30, 2005, 10:59:26 PM »
Interesting to note that Allan Ferguson, who runs a Ferguson Golf (an interesting co. that helps people organize trips to Scotland), sent out a missive recently saying that Mark Parsinen had sold his interest in Kingsbarns to another group of Americans.
Apparently he is now focusing all his energy on the new project near Inverness. Has anyone had a chance to check this one out? Gil Hanse is doing the work -- how is the site? Does it have a chance to rival Kingsbarns? Apparently it has a scheduled 2007 opening.

Robert -

This has been commented upon here several times over the past 3-6 months. Martin Bonnar posted here relative to Parsinen's sale of his Kingsbarns interest 3 or 4 weeks ago. I recall making a post on the new project in early June.

The Parsinen project near Inverness is at Castle Stuart, which is just west of the Inverness (Dalcross) Airport. It is roughly halfway between Inverness and Nairn. I think Parsinen's plans include making it a bit more of a "destination resort" (hotel, spa, etc.) than Kingsbarns.

The land sits on the south shore of the Moray Firth (like Nairn). While it is not linksland, I recall someone posting here that the land has more movement than what was at Kingbarns before they started to push dirt around there.

The other golf course/high-end club/resort project on the drawing board near Inverness is Castle Beaufort, near Beauly (about 15 miles northwest of Inverness).
