At first I was considering the Himalayas at St Andrews, but perhaps not, as the slopes are so severe and wacky that they arn't necessarily that deceptive. So instead I'd go for the opposite, nearly flat greens, where the slopes are so tiny, so fractional that they can't really be seen. One other aspect, particularly if you're playing walk up and just hit it golf, as against looking at putts from all angles, is how much green reading is done with the eyes and how much is done with the feet - it get's really confusing standing over for example a right to left putt with your feet below the ball and then the ball breaks the opposite way at the hole. Also, there's the effect of wind on a putt, plus grain too.
All the best.
