MacDonald Trophy this Sunday

So once a year the leven clubs play the original 18. I'm so looking forward to seeing what the old boys played. The best of the holes all played together. This year the lundin club are hosts so we tee off from their first and play towards leven before returning to lundin for tea and cakes. Hmmm! Maybe a beer or two. Its so good to be a fifer...!

Damn!  I didn't know they did that.  I would love to do that one time.  Can you play as a guest of a member?

Not ever having played a Leven hole, I totally struggle with the definition. Can someone please educate me? Dangerous line is the most advantageous is all I understand.

Nigel here's a very good thread that goes over the Leven hole.  It discusses the Leven hole at Old MacDonald, NGLA and Lundin (16th).

Wow wow wow!
Just back from the course(s)!
Now that would be a world class golf course if it were ever to be reinstated.
1-5 on lundin, 13,14,15,18 and 1-5 on leven, then 15-18 on lundin.
Amazing flow, by far the best holes of both courses and despite being in the midst of really heavy rain, still playing fast and firm.
We really, REALLY need to get them to allow a GCA contingent next year...

Martin,

A few years ago a friend of mine named Ernie Payne - who claims to have played EVERY course in Scotland, except Trump (so far) - approached the club captain at either Leven or Lundin Links and was invited to play in the annual match over the original course.

I played in the John Smith/James Braid Gents Open last month at Elie with a Leven member who talked with great pride about the event.

Tell them to double the green fee and that they could have a gimmick on the scale of the Reverse Course. Golf dorks will crawl over themselves to play, me included.
