I work with North Bay.

9 holes Thompson - 9 holes Bob Moote
Originals are pretty good - new stuff - not as good
Pretty good land and a nice setting.
Fun to play.

Would not drive to Sudbury to play and would suggest Idlewyde first if you did.

Head south for better golf....
With every golf development bubble, the end was unexpected and brutal....

If you click the link in the signature line you can check out a map that links photo tours and the like from this August site.  The North Bay area of Ontario has not been chronicled here, that I know of.

A little south, Bigwin Island has been, and it looked pretty cool, among a number of unassuming courses around there.
The trouble with modern equipment and distance—and I don't see anyone pointing this out—is that it robs from the player's experience. - Mickey Wright

Andrew,
Many thanks for your reply and help.

Mark,
Thanks for contributing. Yes, I played North Bay G C but it was 15-20 years ago. I recall that I enjoyed the round (with my wife and a 12 year old member) but can not remember that much about it.

I was advised that there is a relatively new course, Osprey, in Calendar worth checking out??

Again, thanks for all the help.
Ray

Ray, are you asking about the 54 hole complex Osprey Valley in Caledon? If so, the answer is a very definitive yes! Everyone seems to have their own preference there, but I'd play the three courses there Hoot > Heathlands > Toot. They have an all day rate there and are usually fairly quiet mid-week, if you have the energy...

Hi Mark,
No...I read the previous comments about Osprey in the Ontario's Top 50 but this is Osprey Links in Callander (sorry for my misspelling above).
Callander Bay is kinda south of North Bay, I think.
Over the years and many trips to the area, I've played a lot of different tracks (courses) between NB and Sudbury, mostly all less that top 150 so I was looking for something newer and better; Maybe Osprey Links is a partial answer.
Thanks
Ray

Got to OspreyLinks on Tuesday....lots of fun golf.
Front nine is flat with lots of water and linksy styled but back nine is in the bush and very hilly.
Quite a contrast in looks and style of play. The front is so open that the change to the back nine appears to be very tight because of the trees and bush but in fact there is plenty of room.
I played the whites at around 6000 yds.
It is well worth a visit and play at around $55. with cart (sorry, guys. at my age and health, riding is all I can do)
