Canadian Top 100 ranking list just published...

Yet another Top 100 ranking list – this time it’s for courses on the northern side of the International Boundary:

http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmlsite/story.asp?id=465

I’m interested to hear what gca browsers in the Land of the Maple Leaf (and elsewhere) make of this one...

Pretty good list overall.

-I like Beacon Hall but don't see it being top 10
-RM Blue is much too high at #12
-based on what I've heard, a little surprised Cabot didn't debut a little higher...perhaps needs more time
-Muskoka Bay is beautiful but the architecture isn't great
-I'd have Toronto GC in the top 10
-I'd have Blackhawk in the top 15...much better than Devil's Pulpit
-Crowbush is sliding over the years...wouldn't make my top 50
-Nice to see Mt Bruno in the top 30
-I wouldn't have Cobble Beach in my top 100, nor Georgian Bay Club in my top 75
-Essex should be top 25, ditto for St. Thomas and Lookout Point
-SO HAPPY to see Kawartha on the list...it's about time it gets some love
-I'd have Cataraqui in the top 40
-nice to see Lakeview listed as a 'Gem' in Ontario

Having just returned from a few days in Canada, I would say that Kawartha, Cataraqui, Lookout Point and St. Thomas probably ALL deserve to be ranked higher than they are on your list.

Admittedly, I have not seen some of the more predictable modern layouts that rank above them.

Tom, what else did you see on this trip? Did you get a chance to see the now competed Devils Paintbrush?

What are people seeing at Cobble Beach that I'm not? Top-40? Not in my top-100.

The fact that both courses at Kananaskis and Greywolf made the list is more a credit to the scenery than the true quality of the golf. When courses like Royal Mayfair and The Springs course at Radium just fail to make the list it shocks me. We have so much great golf for courses that are boring and poorly routed to make the list is shocking.

Any of the courses named above worthy of inclusion in the list of top courses below 6,500 yds being discussed on the other thread, the thread entitled 'Ran's Challenge'?

You've played there?

The highlight was the mama bear and two cubs on the back tee out at the end of the course.  Needless to say we played it forward!
