Amazing Greensite Transitions

Call them what you will....transitions, tie-ins, that seamless look, etc.  The main thing though is that most of us know great examples of this concept when we see it.

In my travels, the greatest greensite with regards to these transitions, for me,  has to be at the 17th hole at Royal Melbourne West.  Any way your eyes move, be it L to R or R to L, everything about the rough/short grass/putting surface/surrounding vegetation/bunker continuity is damn near flawless.  The continual flow from one part to the next is perfect!

I'm surprised you are using RM West 17 as a good example.  I reckon the movement in front of the green is too overdone.

Royal County Down does is as good as it gets in this regard.

One complaint that Ive heard about RMW/E is exactly what you just said with some of the short or surrounding greensite movements being too overdone or artificial.  I loved all of it though.  It was just so different than anything I had ever seen and it registered a positive in my brain.

Aside from that though, I absolutely love the fact that the 17th greensite has complete opposite features on each side but it all moves together so wonderfully.  

Remember, too, aside from Australia and America, I'm just a non-traveled Yank that doesn't know any better.

You need to come back here and live our indulgent lifestyle for a few years.  Those high wages and long holidays will see you travel more than you would living over there...

Thanks.  It doesn't get much better than our exchange rate allowing me to play RCD for $75, then a few weeks later making a Yank fork out $300 to play here.

GCGC has about the most seemless transitions you'll ver encounter.

The greens are just fairway, mowed lower.

Everything else is at grade
