I agree Rose hit 2 beautiful shots on 18, exactly what HE needed at that moment.

What if he had been a shot back and had hoisted a 7 wood or superhigh fading 3 iron or hybrid that had landed just soft enough to get tight.
I think a hole can be great even if it's a difficult if not a nearly impossible 3.
Sometimes it's the player who can best find a way to make a par on an "unfair" hole that provides the challenge, although i was critical of 18 holes of that at Shinnecock in 2004.

Everyone had to play #18, and Rose and Duffner came closest to birdieing it, coincidentally they played the best final rounds.
