In the interview after, Stricker said he "caught it a little off the hosel."

French Creek has an a cool boost/brake at the 2nd hole. It's basically conical, getting more shallow and narrow as you move left in front of the green. Probably 6-8 feet deep at its deepest/right side, the boost is less effective over there, but it creates interesting angles.

The par 5 11th at Cherry Hills has this feature. If you carry the cross bunkers and hit the side of the hill in which the bunkers are located, balls will release through a valley and up a slope to the green.
