Most courses in our area that have bentgrass greens tend to use two varities. I believe Merion has 5.  Something seems to  perplexing straigtforward putts

Any inconsistency drives these guys (especially Americans) nuts.

Tiger especially.  He doesn't play PB anymore, does he?
The only way of really finding out a man's true character is to play golf with him. In no other walk of life does the cloven hoof so quickly display itself.

We noticed several shades on green on and around the greens (especially in the fringes).  Patchy.

John McCarthy -

Tiger grew up putting poa greens. He won a US Open by a record margin at Pebble.

Some of the reasons he does not play in the AT&T at Pebble anymore at that 1) the rounds can take 5-6 hours, 2) the greens can get very bumpy as they do not move the cups over the first 3 days of play, 3) the greens can be very soft at that time of year due to the winter weather and 4) crowd control at Pebble can be "casual" at times.

Tiger has won British Opens putting on mixed swards , it does not matter what they look like but how they perform.

the multiple strains of grass lead to resilience for the surface overall, same thing at ANGC

lots of spike marks...that definitely drives TW nuts
