I'll probably get killed for saying this, but I'd be happy to play in 6 hours if it meant I could shoot a 65. For the record, I hate slow play, but I'd trade pace of play for the ability to play really well.

By the way, the new GC commercials are pretty funny.

Playing slow does not help you play better. Usually; it makes you play worse. Nothing causes a bad shot worse than your own brain getting in the way. Look at the target, pull a stick, hit the shot, move on.

I like the drink cart one because that's the one that drives me the most insane.

After waiting for 15 minutes so the guys in front can all miss the green with an iron, the last thing I want to see is for the girl to drive and stop in the middle of the fairway and I have to wait 10 more minutes while they all buy beer, fumble for their wallets, fumble for cash, make some mildly misogynistic comments to the girl, wait for the guy on the other side of the fairway to come over and tip her, wait for the driver of one of the carts to ask her for a glass of ice, wait for her to put the ice in the cup, wait for him to open the beer and pour it in the cup, etc, etc, etc...

I am with you on the drink cart. Just got back from a long golf trip to Florida, played a lot of the Orlando resort courses. Seems every 15 minutes, a cart girl was buzzing through. And yea, it seemed like 10 minutes each time, the cart would stop to serve a group, and sometimes the cart stopped in the worst of locations, don't these gals have any sense or are they not given some basic guidelines on where to park?

I always have a small cooler with me. Even though the courses say no coolers, never found one that really enforces it. A really stupid rule, I know it is all about making money. But I drink a lot when it is 90+ degrees, and I am not cheap, but resent paying the absurd prices they charge. Between my wife and I, it could easily come to $20 for a rounds worth of Gatorades. Just another way to nickel and dime people, more prevalent than ever with our game today.

Hi Jeff

The beverage cart is stupid, just another way to nickel and dime golfers. Seldom enforced, I see coolers all the time and food/ beverages stuffed in golf bags. Name me another sport where players are not allowed to bring their own food or drink. Tennis, basketball, soccer, etc... No, everyone brings their own. I am already paying a fee to play on their playing field, that should be enough.

But regardless of whether the beverage cart is a good idea or not, why can't they park it in a spot that does not prevent the next group from hitting on. And what does it say about old men flirting with a girl often young enough to be their daughter, granddaughter, or even great granddaughter, it goes on all the time and makes them look stupid and the cart girl plays it up, all for tips. While this silliness is going on, the course is backing up. Name me another sport where the participants stop their play to flirt and engage in such silliness. . You will be hard pressed I believe. Maybe this game we play is not a sport at all, that is for another discussion I guess. I have always said half seriously, if you think there is any hope for mankind spend a day at the golf course.

if I'm told I can't bring my own beverages, I'm OK if some are provided for me to purchase.

I may be biased though. I married the cart girl at Palmetto Dunes

(I can only attribute that to her perhaps sampling the beverages she was supposed to be selling?)

put me solidly in the 'loves cart girls' camp. My club does not offer a beverage cart so perhaps it's a 'forbidden fruit' deal with me.
