I am "old" but I believe in Groucho Marx's famous line:  "You're only as old as the woman you feel."

When I saw Shaffer's recent post, I felt for sure the place was going out of business.  The world has shifted on its axis.

Not so fast. There’s at least one in every crowd. My parents recently moved to The Villages. I played a couple rounds there with my dad last December.

No, the courses would not be confused for great golf or even good golf. There are 10 “championship” courses (18 holes) and 32 “executive” courses (9 holes of primarily par 3s and 4s).  Overall, they courses are well maintained, feature wide fairways, amoeba-like RTJ bunkers and surrounded by plenty of housing (prime lots). But most importantly, they provide enjoyment and a challenge for many residents, including my parents.  And that’s all that matters to me as they continue to enjoy their retirement.

We played two “championship” courses (Evans Prairie  and Palmer Legends) and one “executive” course.  A few photos but I couldn’t distinguish which courses is which.

My mom spends 3 month in the villages in the winter.  For good golf head to Ocala or WW.  Juliette Falls is good and in excellent shape.  Ocala Golf club is one of my favorite courses in Florida.  Just 35 mins up the street.

That is funny....

I watched the segment last night on The Golf Channel and they look like they are having fun. No way "The Boss" is ever going to do it, so my architectural integrity can stay intact, and I get to die poor in Manhattan :)

For those that didn't click on the link:

There are currently 540 holes of golf and at final build out there will be 621 holes of golf including 12 country-club championship courses.

@Judge Lavin & Mike Sweeney   I am not an undertaker.  ;D  There is good news even here in AZ. I reside in Pebble Creek, an "active adult" community with only 45 holes of senior friendly golf. I'm on the Advisory Golf Committee. We do only 100,00 rounds per year. Another 9 are being built on an unknown timetable depending on how many more premium golf lots the developer needs. 3 holes of the last 9 are done.

@ Howard Riefs  Most of the CC courses at The Villages have 27 holes.
