What was the inspiration/justification for the "Bendelow" pimple mid-left. I call it Bendelow because it reminded me of similar features from old photos of Olympia Fields.

Forgot to answer this.  The inspiration for the pimple is known only to some mine worker long ago -- it was there when we started.  We left it because it seemed like a good idea to have something along that edge to hold up a ball and help define the brink of disaster.

There was actually a small palmetto tree growing next to the pimple, which we tried to save, too, but the client thought that was crazy and it was eventually removed.

Has anyone deliberately (or accidentally I guess) played down into the bowl with a back left pin and tried to two putt?    Would be interesting!

It would seem to be "a" or "the" prudent strategy.

Suggesting that a 3-putt bogey would be preferable to a near miss X!

With aback left flag, I think 4 is a good score.

Who knows what score you'd post if you hitt it left

Bill,

That hole is a hole where big numbers are easily obtained, yet, when you first gaze at it, nothing terrifies you.

When you walk onto the 7th tee, it sends the "danger" signal to your eye.

Not so with the 5th the first time you play it.

That's when I made the X.  The shot looked very nice while in the air........ ;D
