Anyone played this Tim Liddy design?  This photo from the website is pretty tasty:

I've played it a few times.  It's an enjoyable layout, however, pretty surrounded by houses.  Certainly not the prettiest course around.  Reminds me a little bit of Trophy Club Lite.  There are some really good holes, it's definitely worth a look if you're in the area but the housing really detracts from the experience.

Very enjoyable layout with a couple of big 'cautions':

1)During last summer's drought, the course ponds went stone dry, leaving the grass extremely vulnerable.  I have NOT been back since the worst of it, though, so it's possible that it somehow survived and will thrive... But I'd have wagered at the time that in the dead-or-just-thirsty question, the former was far more likely.  Looked to my very untrained eyes that they were going to have vast expanses of dirt.

2) Several extremely well-placed bunkers that appear on the card are grass bunkers in real life.  I haven't had the chance to ask Mr. Liddy if that's a recent change or whether they were nver sanded in the first place, but it's disappointing to look at an area that was clearly meant to provide a strong disincentive and see that with the rough cut short it's actually a prime spot to be.

But it's a fun course with some good movement in the land and artfully bold features.  As for the housing - there is indeed a lot of it, but it only irritates as a visual element; I don't recall anywhere that it actually impinges on anywhere you'd want to hit it.

Bogey,

It's an enjoyable round.  The first five or six holes are pretty solid.  Then on the back there are a couple of cool features, including the 17th green with a pimple just short of the green.  From what Tim has said this course includes several links style attributes and homages.  Like a Hell bunker and things that become apparent as you go around.  I like the course, but if you are playing on the south side of Indy, make sure you get to Heartland Crossing.

Also, let some of us know when you come to town.

The Big Ward,  played Quail Run w/ Barney many years ago - regrettably he cracked The Magic Spoon that winter day.  Best $16 fee ever paid.  If I get a hankering for mutton I might get up that way again.

Chris, I will be with 7 others on the 16th annual Other Senior Tour so we'll need to get together another time.  Looks like The Fort, Trophy Club and Brickyard Crossing for the agena, with Saturday night reservations at St. Elmo.

Regards,

That's a pretty solid lineup.
