Mucci Pater & Filius Do Streamsong
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:29:16 PM »
So, this afternoon I'm sitting on the water cooler next to the putting green at Streamsong when the starter comes by.

I ask him if he has the tee sheet for the day.

He says no, it was done for the day.

I asked him if he remembered if a Mr Mucci had played today.

He said, of course, he remembered - Mr Mucci had gone out on the Blue in the morning and had told him that he had met Tiger in 1996.

I say, yup, that's our guy; I've heard that story.

The starter says he was here playing with his son.

I say, yup, that sounds about right.  But, see, I've never met the guy - I only know him through the internet.  Well, you're in luck, he's about to go off the Red.  I'll stop him for you.

Not two minutes later up drives Patrick and son.

I ask him if he's seen any morons about?

He says they're everywhere.

Now, Patrick, the moron king, and I have met, perhaps that will slow the green ink  ..................   as if!   ::)

As proof that there really is a Pat Mucci, behind the green ink, here are some photos.

Patrick's son trying to measure up to Dad.

Patrick and son in front of some natural looking dunes.

Patrick trying to drive the iron RR track tee block on Red #1.  What resulted was a spiral (?) shot.

I'm going to guess that is the first time all winter the boys had their golf shorts on, and perhaps the only sun those legs have gotten in quite a while.  If Pat would go stand along the side of the FW, he'd make a nice set of OB posts.  ;D ::) 8)

Now we know Pat posts to GCA.com with his i-phone.  An errant ball struck Pat in the pocket, and broke the text-posting device full of green ink.

So, this afternoon I'm sitting on the water cooler...

Is this a Canadian thing?  Who sits on a water cooler?

It's a wooden box full of bottled water.  Load up before you head out.

So I'm heading out for my second 18 of the day and as I approach the first tee I see this moron sitting on a water cooler.

I turn to my son and say, look at that moron sitting on the water cooler.

As we stop to talk to the starter, the moron sitting on he water cooler says, "have you seen any morons about ?"

I reply, "They're everywhere"

I then recount how I just had dinner the previous night with a moron, Bill Brightly

He then introduces himself as the one and only Bryan Izatt.

GCA.com'ers are everywhere, and it's amazing how many people are aware of GCA.com

Well, I have to run as we have an 8:10 and 1:15 tee off today.

RJ,

Sadly you're right
I re damaged my left knee and those legs haven't seen the sun since December

Back later tonight

PS. The kid parred all the hard holes yesterday

You know, Bryan, I want to believe this story, and I think you would have pulled it off, were it not for one glaring error in your scheme:

Mucci don't play no publics.

As the producer would tell you in the Tri-Star elevator, "Change Streamsong to Augusta and make the water cooler a log bench. Anyway, who's the lead?"

Which ones did you think were the hard ones?   5 Blue with a nine iron and a strong breeze from the right was a bugger!

15 Red was pretty easy.  I holed an 85 yard pitch for my only birdie in four rounds during our outing.   ;D

Based on first-hand observation, I can attest that such an "iron RR track tee block shot" is not encouraged. A very scary visual and sound.

Verified. I saw it.

Brilliant layup to the left side of the fairway to attack a front left pin over a hump. The two bounces and 1.5 feet of roll were well planned!

Thank you Jonathan!  Actually the "brilliant layup" was a pull hooked hybrid, but hey, it worked!  Nice angle from over there....... ;D

Very nice.

I note Pat's excellent position: right elbow tucked in, plenty of lag, set up on the left side of the tee to play his draw. However, I also note that he must have hired a young actor to play his son, because there's no way an actual son could be so happy and loving in his dad's presence!!  :D

Pat did indeed join my group of 14 guys from Hackensack for dinner on Tuesday and they all really enjoyed getting to know him and listen to a few of his stories. It was especially nice to have Pat as backup when one of the morons from my club said: "Ya know, what we really need to do is build a stone wall inside the pond on hole 17 and get rid of all the weeds on the bank." I hope Pat approved of the way I slapped the guy down.

great trip with your son Pat.  :)[

William,

We had a really great time.

A late afternoon round on Tuesday, dinner with Bill Brightly and his group Tuesday night.
36 with a doctor from Houston on Wednesday.
Wednesday night we Met some fellows from Washington DC, including an Orthopedic Surgeon I previously met at NGLA.
Also Spent some time with a few fellows from Baltusrol and Gulph Mills
Golf with a fellow from Chicago Thursday morning and a fellow from Minneapolis in the afternoon.

Also spent some enjoyable time with Kyle Harris, Rusty, Scott, Chip and Rich Mack

Bill's group and especially Scott were really nice to Ryan at dinner.
And when they sat down to play poker later that night I had to tell Ryan that dinner with the guys was okay, but poker was off limits.
But they were really very nice to him and I appreciated that

Everyone at Streamsong was pleasant and accomodating

Ryan found out the hard way that his father had a misspent youth when he challenged me to pool Wednesday night.

It was a special couple of father-son days

Jud,

What became obvious during our visit to Streamsong was that my son's golfing future is ahead of him and that mine is behind me.

His dad still poses a significant challenge for him, but I suspect that a year from now our positions will be reversed, and I can't wait for that to happen

Red

5, 10,  11, 12  15, 16

Green tees

He drove the ball very well and hit his fairway woods very well.
His irons and short game need work, although his bunker game improved dramatically during our stay

Jed,

Groucho Marks got it right.

You're only as old as the women you feel.

I married a much younger, much nicer, much better looking woman.

Everybody understands why I married her.
No one understands why she married me.
