And we have yet another
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:14:22 AM »
http://www.thesustainabilitycouncil.org/about-isc-audubon.html

Here is another "sustainability group" wanting to make a few bucks off of golf without having skin in the game.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm all for low environmental impact but the purposeful use of the word " audubon" over and over by the various groups gets tiring.  None are related.  We all pay for this just like First Tee.  Corporate America feels they must support such and then we buy a chemical or fertilizer or mower and find the vendor just gave them a healthy "feel good" donation for press purposes.  These things just add to the cost....nothing more... ;)

Could not agree more.  The "S" word is my least favorite word now.  To me it is the height of the PC, collective, UN Agenda 21 movement.  Most groups that use it are only motivated by profit, some are not so innocent.

Well, the reason there are so many different groups is that not one of them can get people to take them seriously.

Mike, you should choose one of them (or start another) and support it.  You are right that a lot of what they say is simply common sense ... but you also know that the golf business as a whole is a long, long way from sustainability and needs a good shove in the back.

TD,
I do.  GEO is the one I think is best.  And I do think we are a long way from sustainability...I just irritates me to see the "play" on the word audubon all the time.

I'm pretty sure he is from north of the Macon-Dixon line!
You know, that place where true Georgians flee from, because of all the Yankees.
