For a guy who might be in San Jose in May, how does Pasatiempo compare with Spyglass Hill? I've played Pebble, so I'd like to see one of those two courses on my next visit to the area.

9-1 Pasa and less expensive.

Jason,

I agree with Bill.  I just played Spyglass two weeks ago and if I were back in the area again and had a choice between the two, I'd choose Pasatiempo over Spyglass.  Spyglass is very good but Pasatiempo is special.

I love Pasa. It was the course that first got me thinking about architecture.

That being said, 16 (and especially 16 green) is a good bit overrated IMO..If that green was by another architect it would not get anywhere near the love it gets....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 10th tee now on the other side of the road? The original 10th must've played very long!

+1.  By the way, did Seascape copy that green on their #15?

The 10th tee is on the other side of the road, if that is indeed the same location that the current road passes through.  That hole is long as is, it would be another 30-40 yards longer if the tee was on the side of the clubhouse.

To me it looks like an additional 15-20 yards. It seems like the road is now where the tee in the photo is, and the tee where the dirt road is. They appear to have switched location.

2 and 10 were bothoriginally par 5s from over the road.  The 490 yard back tee on 2 has been restored.  I don't think the back tee on ten has.
