Steve,

That's great news.

Hidden Creek is a wonderful golf course and Roger Hansen really "gets it"
I'm sure that he'll have the course and club ready for the competitors.

Now, Mother Nature just has to co-operate.

I echo Patrick's statement. Hidden Creek is really fun and interesting, a great walk that presents lots of strategy, especially off the tee. Because of the low scrub and pines that frame the holes, on the dog legs the longer hitter can cut off yardage and shorten 2nd shots by taking agressive lines on a number of drives. The ground game is in effect as the courses base is pure sand. Hidden Creek demonstrates that a flat site can have plenty of interest. The seniors can have fun looking for the creek too.

Charlie, I know where it is...

Chris,
We had played about 16 holes when I asked our caddie about the creek. He smiled and said something like, "Some of the members say it is off 13." If you know where it is, you're doing better than I did.

Charlie, the GAP held our Mason-Dixon Matches there a few years back so I had the privilage of spending a few days on site.  What a great course with a number of options for different course setups which should make the match play portion of the Senior Amateur very exciting.  When we were setting up the golf course we inquired about the hidden creek as we had to make sure whether or not we needed to mark it for play...

Chris,
Agree strongly with the possibility of different setups. One thing our caddie showed us was how different hole locations there greatly effect where approaches are landed. Hole placement always has a bearing on scoring, but there are certain locations that will really encourage balls coming off the green if the player gets too greedy looking for birdy. There are also some holes that may be driveable if they play more forward tees.

I've recall some mention of tee boxes being added, but have there been any other notable changes made at HC recently?

Steve,

No notable changes recently (last year or two) other than some tee boxes and to be honest the most recent tee box work has tended to be for the purpose of accomodating a tee/course set up in the 6,200 yd or so range for those that felt that the orginal member tees of 6,600 yd or so was a bit much.  They added some length on few holes maybe 3 years ago, but nothing along those lines the last few years.

More of the work the last year or two has been to get it to play faster and firmer.  Execution of that started to falter, they made a change on the maintanance side a couple of years ago and when mother nature cooperates it is playing much more along those lines again, which is great.

There have been some modifications recently, but nothing of enormous consequence, like the bunker on # 18.

 8) ;D   8)

Started practicing today , no old geezers are going to beat me in my back yard.   Just need to find a driver to go farther than my three wood.  Hidden Creek will be a nice venue for the Senior Championship .  Not too hard or too easy.   Nice honor for Roger and South Jersey golf!
