Joe:

I wore that hat out some time ago. The nines were flipped back in 2005 so that the the 18th hole would finish up in front of the newly built clubhouse. I agree that the old finish was much better. Also, the transition from the original front to back nine and the general "flow" of the course had a better feel to it as well. The one downside to the original configuration was that the par-3 second (on the corner of Cedar and Richmond) had a tendency to back things up a bit early in the round.

Jon:

The second green on the original 18th hole was a practice green when I was there and I assume it was so back in the day as well. I like how the fairway just blends in with the practice green/area back in 1954. It just looks more simple and appeals to me for that reason. Of course the extra width of the 18th fairway in 1954 (like the width of the rest of the fairways at that time) made it possible to blend the practice area into the 18th hole back then.

Joe,

Thanks for your post and pictures of Acacia. They brought back a flood of memories.

I was a member there back in the 60's during my teenage years. It's where I learned how to really
play the game well. I even won the club championship in 1968. My dad Dick Pettersson also won
the club championship in a great match against Wally Stahl the first year we joined there in '63.

Were you (Or anyone else in this thread) a member there? I was wondering what happened with all
the memorabilia from the men's grille and locker room. Would love to know more about other old
time members and employees. There was a great guy who ran the men's locker room named Eafrem
(Spelling?) Dunn back in the day. Last I heard he was still there.

If you have any other info or know someone who I might be able to contact that was a member who
might have more info I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Dave Pettersson

Dave:

Eiphriam Dunn was the locker room manager back in the day at Acacia. Eph is now at Shaker Heights and has been there for some time. The number there is 216.991.3660 if you would like to try and contact him.
