The glass that most restaurants serve red wine in.
Those crappy, small, insufferable non aromatic glasses.
A good wine deserves a Riedel glass.
I think I have reached the point of saying "show me the glass," to see if I want to order wine or not.

Beer and music.  Though my philosophy with regard to beer is very similar to my philosophy with regard to golf courses.  I generally won't buy for myself anything that I don't consider a very high quality product.  You will not find mass produced domestics, almost anything imported, or even domestic "macro-micros" (i.e., Sam Adams) in my refrigerator.  But I'm more than willing to drink whatever you put in front of me.  I'm not so much of a beer snob that I will refuse to drink at your house if you have a refrigerator full of Miller Lite.  If I'm at a local dive, I have no problem drinking MGD or Rolling Rock.  When it comes to golf, I typically won't choose to play anything that I don't consider a high quality golf course, but if you make a tee time at a local dog track and invite me to be in your foursome, I'll play just about anywhere.

Not with music, though.  I generally try to avoid listening to anything I don't want to listen to, and while I go to a lot of concerts, I don't particularly enjoy live music for the sake of live music.  I want to see the bands I want to see, and that's pretty much it.

This...

1. Pitchers (baseball) - it's not the playoffs until it's the playoffs.  Anticipate the next 3-4 pitches so you can get the ball from the catcher and be ready to make the next pitch.  Watch Brett Anderson from the Oakland A's this year.  THAT is how you are supposed to control a game from the mound.  There are way too many human rain delays in the game right now.

...and probably dick jokes.

Salt is another one. I'm a hopeless salt snob and will only use that nasty bitter Morton's or Leslie crap to bring pasta water to a boil a bit quicker. Otherwise, I really prefer Himalayan Pink Salt as it has a crisp, sweet undertone.

Call yourself a snob. I spit on your snoberry.

Any fule no salt makes water boil at a higher temperature, therefore it takes longer to boil!

2. Books
3. Running/biking trails - completely spoiled rotten in the Minneapolis/St. Paul
4. Beer

Sorry, you lost me at "watch the Oakland A's"  ;)

I agree though. Mark Buehrle and his 2hr  games are a wonderful thing.

OK I'm a snob about a few of the things listed here. But .....Hotels.

What's with Hotels?

I need a clean firm bed with three pillows. I want a warm shower and then I want out of there because life is on the outside.

Just spent one week staying in Room 508 of The Sevillia Hotel, Habana.  The action in Graham Greene's thriller actually happened in room 501, but so what, the place has been repainted since.

What am I missing?

PS You Hotel snobs, do you pay for them ourselves or are they on expenses?

Your Angels have nothing to worry about in the West this year.  I only used Anderson as an example that there is actually someone else besides Buehrle who works efficiently.

I am going to have to agree with Josh Tarble on College Basketball.  I also grew up in Indiana being a crazed Hoosiers fan, even remember calling in sick from school on the first two days of March Madness.  Living in California, people just don't get college basketball out here, all they care about is their Lakers.  I must admit I am looking forward to moving back to Indy and rejoicing with my fellow college basketball nuts.

Music-  I like to consider myself a sophisticated listener of music, and people that don't get the music I listen too, just obviously don't understand good music. ;D ;D.  I am no where near the level of music knowledge as John Kirk is though, the guy made a website on the top 100 musical artists.  That takes some time.

Beer, wine and out-of-town dining.

Beer:  I live 20 mins away from 3 Floyds.  No excuse not to drink the best.

Wine:  There is nothing better than a GREAT bottle of wine.  I'd rather not drink at all than drink grocery store swill.

Out-of-town dining:  Simple rule on vacation or golf trip....no chain restaurants, no matter how "nice" they are.  Always try to find the local spot that the hotel concierge would never tell you about.

Beer, camera equipment, shoes -- though I can't afford to indulge my snobbery in the latter two categories.

Wow!  I had no idea of the snobbery level on this board.  I am very choosy about music, and golf, less so about wine (more interested in value for money than over-priced "great wine") and a bit less so about beer.  But in no circumstances would I say I am a snob about any of this stuff if only because snobbery generally requires time and money and money I don't wish spending.  Though I admit to little patience with music I don't care for only because bad stuff (meaning stuff I don't care for) really is harsh on my ears.  Unfortunately, my wife and I split on music - she can't take Tom Waits, Coltrane or Bill Evans (a heavenly trio if you ask me).  I would normally think that wouldn't bode well for our relationship, but its been 22 years - I have learned to listen to music in the car rather than at home.

I'm a horrible, irretrievable snob about computer equipment and phones. It is Apple or nothing and any product from Gatesland is expunged and expelled. Just the sound of that goddamed noise of an MS operating system booting up irritates me. I'm not Chinese enough to run a P.C. and thus can be identified as a typical Mac groupie. Fine, I'm a snob.

Oh please.

Saying that you are a computer snob because you use Apple is like saying you are a driving aficionado because you drive a car with all the latest safety and assistance features. Hogwash.

If you are a REAL computer snob, you would hand-build your own PC (I do it all the time) with your hand-selected components for best-in-class performance and you would be running a Linux with your own personal distro customized for your specific set up.

Let's not kid ourselves...
