This should be a super Dixie Cup!

While in the area, I certainly want to get out to play No. 2, which I haven't seen since 2005.

Is staying one night at the resort, be it before or after the official event, the best/only way to guarantee a tee time?  Do some rentals have access if the owner is a member of the Country Club?  Welcome any insight on this.

Also, anyone else attending interested in playing No. 2?

I think you can get a time if you are staying at the Pine Crest, too.

I read Jamie Diaz piece in Golfworld about teaching and he mentioned living in Southern Pines and playing at MidPines

Anyone object to me inviting him to join us at dinner or maybe otherwise?

Dead conflict with best friend's birthday, a big one.  And they are paying for the condos on Maui.    ;D.  I will be back.

My withdrawal will make someone happy!

I'm in if there's still room. Based on the first post and deposits paid I thought there might be. Unless of course there are further updates.

Okay...Deposit has been sent.

I would like to play Thursday afternoon at Mid Pines to check out the renovation work if anyone else is interested. I might also try to play Friday morning but there might not be enough time given the drive to TR.

Steve

I am definitely interested in the Thursday round. I was planning on driving down from PA leaving on Wednesday with the idea of picking up a round on Thursday either en route or down there. The decision just changes how much driving I absorb on Wednesday and where I spend Wednesday night.

That makes three of us for Mid Pines on Thursday.

I was thinking about playing Thursday afternoon between 1 and 2. I most likely will be driving down from Cincinnati Thursday morning. Although I could potentially drive down Wednesday and get 36 in on Thursday if others are interested. Since my parents live in Southern Pines I will be staying with them.

The original posting mentioned Ran potentially hosting a round at Southern Pines. Do we know if or when this might happen?

I'm interested in Mid Pines as well, barring any conflict on golf with Ran (as suggested in the initial post)

So that's four for Mid Pines. Are any of you interested in a round there staying at Pine Needles or Mid Pines? If so, getting a tee time through that will be best. If not, I will arrange tee times.

i have not worked out my accomodations yet. I have never been to Pinehurst and would love some input and suggestions. I generally stay in Hilton properties but am open to others.

My favorite place to stay in Pinehurst (other than our good friend's private home!).  Spartan but clean and comfortable accommodations, good food, best bar in town, lively crowd on occasion when the piano bar is rocking. Chip 7-irons at the fireplace target.

The place, formerly owned by Donald Ross, reeks of history.  It's hard to beat an apres golf G&T in the rocking chairs on the porch.
