As another foodie, I also vote for not eating at the Pinecrest. Elliot's is definitely my favorite restaurant in Pinehurst. A little pricey. Also good is Ten-Ya - a sushi restaurant in the village. Of course, I'm staying for free with my parents so food costs aren't as much of an issue.

I'm at the Pinecrest and will gladly hit up a quality meal elsewhere one of the nights. Checking in Thursday and getting 3 breakfasts and two dinners still works for me.

I'm also interested in doing meals in varied places.

Let me throw it back to Craig Disher; do you have a sense of the schedule at this point?

It was originally suggested that there might be an opportunity to get together with Ran while we're there.

I'm partial to staying somewhere else (hotel or condo) besides Pinecrest if we would only end up having 1 of the 3 dinners there vs. other locations.

I am in agreement with Chip...I certainly dont mind staying somewhere else like a Hampton Inn and spending more on a nice dinner somewhere.

A bed is a bed to me, especially on a trip like this when I plan on playing as much golf as daylight will allow.
But the prospect of dinners with fine fellow like you all is rather important for the long term memories.

Updated players list?

I live in Pinehurst--~a driver and wedge from Elliott's-- and would be glad to
help in any way I can with hotel ?'s, etc.  PM me if you prefer
I would agree with the others that the Pinecrest is a great place to meet for a drink but there are plenty of other places to eat
to add some variety

Never having been in Pinehurst, is there any reason not to eat one dinner at the Pinecrest? Is it an ok meal?

The pork chops are excellent.  Never had a bad meal.  And the bar is outstanding.

The food is fine.  I think it is a good idea to try some of the other places around.
As mentioned earlier, you can pay for a plan that you pay for breakfasts and dinner for each night .. Perhaps
just pay for the room without the meal plan

We will be having a players' dinner one night at a site TBD so if you're staying at the Pinecrest, factor that in.

Current player line-up and other info can always be found in post #1.

For those that know me...I vote for a BBQ-fest for one of our dinners.  I can begin research ASAP unless someone knows of a killer spot.

It reminds me of the label gag on Futurama, a brand of pet food was named "Kibbles 'n Snouts" with a little flag on the label saying "Now with 20% more Anus".

A horrible memory. Plus, you got your food first and didn't even bother to warn the rest of us!

I think BBQ will be great.  This will be my first Dixie Cup, can't wait.  I am very flexible, whatever you all decide on is fine with me.

Will probably be coming a day or two early.  Love the golf that way.  Be interested in a few early rounds, if there are others planning on coming in early.
