But if he thought staying on top of libel and slander was tough with the printed word, video will add a whole new dimension.

Ran,

Ignore this, and ignore the lawyers. I will send you the language that you need for free. We are the third largest video site on the internet and trust me this is simple.

Okay, maybe I want to get on Yeaman's but that is it.  :D

When I was Trump International in July, it was such a sh*tty gloomy day, I pretty much knew taking photos with a point and shoot was going to be a waste of time.

So I turned the camera onto video mode, and I feel I captured the course better this way, on that day.

Embed does not equal auto-play. You see a still image with a triangle and you need to elect to play in order to see the video.

My concern would be with the size/storage of each video clip. Video is pretty heavy and server space can get eaten up quickly. I like the idea of a separate heading for a drop-down at the top, under which selected video could be accessed. If you do something and want Ran to embed it on site, great. If you make a video and don't submit it, store it on YouTube and link to it.

Ronald, you got to be kidding... you can't click on a triangle after clicking all around the internet and sites???

why does the site need something already a click or two away?

butts, butts, butts how many butt shots ?

The video series was another experiment in social media for me. I’ve been playing around with various social media for quite some time. It began with GCA in 1999, went on to blogging in 2005, tried out various social media sites (yuck) and video seemed worth a try too. I enjoy the interaction and the outlet for my opinions. I don’t think my opinions change architecture, but I hope they add some additional enjoyment of the golf architecture.

I do see social media as another way to get my message out about the work I do and the work I would like to do. It doesn’t take a great effort but it has opened me up to some interesting people including peers. Whether social media helps find work is up to debate.

The videos are part of a long term goal of my blog to take someone through everything I know about architecture and then right through the design and completion of a project. Video seemed to be the most interesting way to present the final installment of that grand plan. I honestly have no idea where to go from here with the blog.

The Mac made it easier to do these quick videos. There is no more than an hour in any of the pieces and one of them was put together and recorded in 10 minutes (average is 20 minutes). I never figured out what I wanted to say, I simply talked to a series of images that explained the process I went through to design the course. I have the feeling that helps and hurts depending on the piece.

I’ll doubt I'll ever do it again.

I prefer the written word. I think if done well, writing carries far more weight and has a far greater impact. I personally think videos are easy to watch and easier to forget. It taps into our short attention span and I don’t think that’s good for golf unless you prefer to entertain rather than educate.

That’s my take on video.
With every golf development bubble, the end was unexpected and brutal....
