An exciting note for those of you who were only staying till Wednesday or Thursday. I've switched De Pan to Wednesday morning. David

Nice move David, what a trip.

I will thank you right now, because missing De Pan was a major regret on my part!

Perhaps someone can give me a lift on that day, so I can avoid having to ask my better half to drive me to Utrecht in the wee hours, wait for me to play golf and hurry me back to Noordwijk. It would be a lot more beneficial to my health if I were to tell her that she can have the car all day and go wherever she fancies :)

An exciting note for those of you who were only staying till Wednesday or Thursday. I've switched De Pan to Wednesday morning. Can't have any of you leaving without the feeling you have OD'd on golf. Plus I really think it's something everyone should experience here. Especially all you lovers of British Heathland courses.

Please note this will complicate our logistics a bit on the day and call for a very early start and we will have to drive a good hour in between rounds to get back to Noordwijk but it's worth it and you will thank me later.

At your service!!!

For those of you staying through Friday I will find another club for the Friday morning for the small group remaining.

David

David:

What about switching Hoge Kleij to the Friday morning?

Your're spoiling us so much that I'm losing my manners and getting greedy  :D

Even if Friday was a rest day, it will still be one hell of a good week's golf!

Andrew,

I think David is away but believe he has been updating the original post on page one with the itinerary.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Latest update. Hilversumsche added Friday morning. This is the classic course that has hosted the KLM Open the last several years.

It's heathland course that I'm certain everyone will enjoy.

At http://www.thedutch.nl I found a course called "The Dutch" - is that the same one that goes under "The International" here? What is the real name?

No they are separate golf courses.
The Dutch is a EGD design, not the same as International, which is a Bruno Steensels design.
Officially The Dutch is a Montgommery and International a Woosnam  :)

Dutch has very nice green complexes, but for the rest is quite overhyped. (the course was part of the Dutch Ryder Cup bid)
It lies in an absolutely flat peat/clay polder east of Rotterdam, about the worst place to build a golf course.
EGD did the best they could with it, but its not as good as the courses you are playing in BUDA.
(most people I have spoken to actually like International better than The Dutch)

I played Swinkelsche last week for the first time with the fescue really present. Course looks quite different.

Here are pics for people who want to have some pre fun about their upcoming BUDA trip:

that looks great Frank! I'm excited to play it! Looks quite long from the tips and looks like some solid golf terrain.

Sand based ground? Seems to be in the photos...

You must be excited to see if it stands the test of all these extremely picky golf geeks! (sorry guys...)

I've just been to the 5th Major and a few other fun courses last week and this week so I should be warmed up by then.

Look forward to seeing everyone.

Question for the others playing Swinkelsche on the Sunday morning - where are you staying on the Saturday night?  Conrad and I will be doing Swinkelsche/Eindhoven and it would be good to catch up with other BUDAites on the Saturday night.

This is what the programme looks like:

Sunday, 14 July 20113

  • Arrival Noordwijk aan Zee, check-n to Huis ter Duin, this can also happen on Saturday

Monday, 15 July
  • Morning foursomes at Noordwijkse Golf Club
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon fourball better ball Noordwijkse Golf Club
  • Drinks and buffet dinner at Noordwijkse Golf Club
  • Perhaps a small presentation/greeting  http://www.noordwijksegolfclub.nl

Tuesday, 16 July
  • 8:00 tee off - The International  http://www.theinternational.nl/
  • 14:30 tee off -  Royal Hague http://www.khgcc.nl/en/
  • Dinner with architect presentation – Frank Pont  http://www.infinitevarietygolf.com/

Wednesday, 17 July

  • Utrecht De Pan – as above based on the numbers. http://www.ugc-depan.nl/ Tee time = 8:00 am. Price 60 euro.
  • Singles matches (in the form of fourballs) at Noordwijkse Golf club - tee times start at 14:50

Optional golf:

Thursday, 18 July
  • Kennemer Golf Club – Please confirm your definite interest to me ASAP http://www.kennemergolf.nl/ Price 62.50 for 27 holes all 3 courses, maybe more but on a space available basis. Shouldn't be a problem.
Friday, 19 July
  • Hilversumsche Golf Club - 7:30 am tee time. 60 euro price.
  • Hoge Kleij Golf Club - time TBA.

As for the golf we have been able to arrange this with more than a 50% discount on the golf fees. Which is the first time these clubs have extended that kind of hospitality to an outside of NL group I’m told.

Golf at de Noordwjikse will cost:

195 euro/158 GBP/257 USD (course as of today on XE.com) for 3 rounds

Golf at The International will cost: 75 euro

Golf at Royal Hague will cost:

    90 euro/73 GBP/118 USD

Wondering if we need to make our own tee times for any of the above rounds?[/list]

Joe,
David and Frank are arranging all of the tee times for Sun-Friday rounds.  A lot of work, which is much appreciated.  Amazingly, if my math is correct, we are getting to play the top courses in Holland Sun-Fri for €570 - less than €50 per round.  That helps me out a lot given the miserable value of the $.

There are a couple of logistics questions that come to mind:
1.  What format of payment is acceptable to clubs?  Will they take credit cards, or is cash needed for each? I had assumed that the group would need to make a consolidated payment to each club, but could be wrong.

2.  Jacket and tie for Buda dinner?
