A new David Kidd course was announced recently in Oroville (Northern California).

OROVILLE — A golf resort that has been a long time in the making has come together over the past nine months at Highway 162 and Forbestown Road.
The Whispering Ridge Golf Course Resort and Hotel Complex spans 1,132 acres on 10 parcels, 6 miles east of Oroville and just south of Lake Oroville.

A golf course, hotel complex and wellness center are proposed on 547 acres, according to the draft environmental document available at the www.buttecounty.net website for Butte County Development Services.

Thursday, Grant Hornbeak, representing Loafer Creek Partners, outlined plans for the first phase of Whisper Ridge to the Oroville Realtors Association.

The project will have a David Kidd-designed championship 18-hole golf course, hotel, day spa and some golf resort lodging.

David Kidd designs golf courses around the world that draw an international clientele, Hornbeak said.

"So we are very excited about our project, but we are also very excited about our youth program," Hornbeak said.

The golf course will have a "wee course" designed for youth, he said.

Local elementary schools will participate in the program that teaches children values they learn in golf that can be applied to life.

At least nine holes of the course will be covered. The first phase includes nine four-bedroom units of resort lodging.

The bedrooms connect to shared living and kitchen
