2012 GCAer Photo Album
« on: December 08, 2012, 12:12:09 AM »
I was going through my Photobucket the other night, looking for a good pic to post in the Photo of the Year thread and like many of you, I would imagine, couldn't decide on just the one! The more I kept looking, the more photos I wanted to share on GCA. Particularly the ones with friends in them. I did take a helluva lot of pics this year as well as playing most of my golf with other GCAers. And that's what spawned the idea for this thread.

So we begin back in early February, Super Bowl weekend, on Hilton Head Island...

Palmetto Hall for the Thaw Out w/ Mark Pritchett

Haig Point for the Thaw Out w/ Tim Gavrich, Joel Zuckerman, Mike Whitaker, Cory Lewis, Ron Csigo, Jason Mandel, Doc Wellmon, Brandon Johnson, Ward Peyronnin, Mike Hogan, Jamey Bryan, Tim Martin, Mike Christensen, Mac Plumart, Mark Pritchett and Chris Shaida

Wexford for the Thaw Out w/ Ron Csigo and Mac Plumart

Lookout Mountain w/ Patrick Boyd

The Honors w/ Anthony Gray

Dismal River w/ Keith O'Halloran

Dismal for the Hundred Hole Hike w/ Ryan Mahaffey, Don Mahaffey and Chris Johnston

Dismal for the 5th Major with 59 of you!

Alameda w/ Pat Kiser

Stonehenge w/Mac Plumart

Prestwick w/ Brian Sheehy

Turnberry w/ David Nelson

Machrihanish w/ Ron Csigo

Machrihanish Dunes w Brian Sheehy and Ron Csigo

North Berwick w/ Simon Holt

Renaissance w/ Chris Shaida

Silloth for the BUDA w/ Mike Whitaker, John Mayhugh, James Boon and Mark Pearce

St. Andrews w/ Anthony Gray

The new course at Dismal w/ Doc Wellmon, John Kavanaugh, Chris Johnston and Mike Christensen

May River w/ Chris Shaida, Hart Huffines and Jerry Kluger

Chechessee Creek for the Dixie Cup w/ Bill Mcbride

Deal w/ Brian Sheehy

I also played Victoria National with Ward Peyronnin and John Kavanaugh back in the spring and I know I took some shots but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Oh well...

So by my calculation I played 24 courses this year -- 21 of them with other GCAers. It's been a great year. Thanks for indulging me.

What about your 2012 with the GCA gang?

Well done on your year Eric and great topic for a thread.

As I mentioned in another thread, I did not get to travel much for golf this year.  However, a few of us in Kansas have played several times in 2012 and are planning our next adventures for 2013.  A Maxwell trail through Kansas and Oklahoma?  Sand Hills of Nebraska?  Trump Scotland? We’ll figure it out this winter.

Overall it was still good time for staying local and every time we met at 2-3 months apart, we always pick up where we left off without skipping a beat.  Except stay away from bloody mary's if you have yard work to do later in the day...

Daryn about to crush his tee ball on the par 5, 18th at Shadow Glen in Olathe, KS.  (He missed his eagle putt by the way)

Have a good holiday season everyone and Happy New Year to you all.

Well done Eric, good to see some faces that I know and some that I don't. It was good meeting you down at Silloth and hopefully see you again next year if visit this way again.

Cheers

I have one from this year's Ballynizzle Cup that I'll try and dig up.  Matt Schulte hoisting the Nizzle Cup, with our esteemed Mr. Colton and Beeotch Cup.  Somewhat of a pattern developing here it seems.  Maybe 2013 will finally be the year for Jim.

I was afraid that picture would spring up. Every time I let my girlfriend use my computer she makes that the background.  I just tell her Eric is a better kisser.

Eric,

Nice pics.  It looks like Ran is on 2 tee at BT...and the green ink is classic!

Howard,
Great picture.  Remember--I had a wager on the Euros so I was checking the scoreboard across the pond after Mickelson's near chip-in!

I had a great year in golf, was able to play some incredible golf courses, but by far the best moment was stumbling (literally) into the post-closing ceremony party with the European team...

Mr JRP was a fantastic Sunday afternoon host (I don't usually smoke cigars, but when I do it's a Cuban with European Ryder Cuppers), and that lemonade/vodka concoction served on the Medinah porch is fantastic!

The 'most amazing man in the world' took this pic with my phone...

From Kings Putter thead.
The gracioius hosts

The winning South team

The extravagantly staged retention of the Kings Putter. This is the first time I ever held it.

The Big Bertha Bunker at Marine Drive's 17th hole. One of the three deepest I've seen and the only one of them I missed

David,

The guy can play! It is funny, I thought the treehouse would appreciate a photo of one of our most famous members. But when I went through my photos of Pat, EVERY one had his face partially obscured! (Anyone remember Tim Allen's next door neighbor on Home Improvement, the guy you never could quite see? :)  )

David,
The guy can play!

I know!  I am glad he was my partner when we played.  Being able to wear shorts at age 60++ without looking silly is also no mean feat.

Come on now! Are you guys sucking up to Patrick again. I think he needs to do some serious weight training on those legs.
