I don't think I am going to travel as much next year.  Instead I will focus on destroying opponents on the course.

Matt B,

It seems like a number of us are turning 4-0 next year. It does seen like a bullet proof plan for spousal approval of a bad-ass golf trip. I am also toying with the idea of going to Scotland.

To do's:

- Win a tourrnament at Streamsong
- Beat Scott Szabo in something
- Dunk a basketball
- See George & Gil's work at Sleepy Hollow (please)
- Take Hundred Hole Hike to the next, next level (just yesterday, Rob Rigg had me googling 'Round the World ticket')

Should be an interesting year.

Numbers 1, 4 and 5 are a distinct possibility......

I've got money on #3 as well

I may take that bet, although I'm sure it's #2 that keeps him up at night.

Well my hit ratio wasn't too great for 2012, although I did manage to knock off Crystal Downs, Harrison Hills and Flossmoor, but here goes anyway:

1)  Streamsong

2)  Greywalls, Black Forest, Belvedere, Pilgrim's Run

3)  Evanston GC, Briarwood

4)  French Lick Ross,  Quail Crossing

Jud - I'm shocked you haven't seen Greywalls!  Get your ass up there!

1. 5th Major - maybe
2. Be a good host at BUDA in NL
3. England Heathland courses
4. PA - a year old invite to Oakmont I need to cash in before the statute of limitations is evoked which can hopefully be combined with some other East Coast gems since I've never golfed on the East Coast.
5. Try to figure out how to encourage my kids to join and have more fun with golf.
5.5 Have the supreme court in NL decide positively on our permits so we can start creation of our new first hole in August.
6. Meet and marry rich attractive woman who needs a young (at heart) golf, tennis and ski partner. Preferably with houses in Hamptons, Monterey Peninsula, Chamonix, St. Anton and Monaco. I want to keep it realistic but she's also a single hcp golfer - from the men's tees, and heavily into fitness and yoga. Age is irrelevant as long as she's over 29 and under 50, maybe 55. That leaves a lot of open options so should be doable.
7. Do I mention finding the genie lamp now or do I have to put that as #1?

***Note: If you could all just pray for me and visualize number 6, I promise there will be all kinds of golf invites coming around as I spread the joy.

Let's just call Streamsong a given for everyone's lists.

I'd like to meet The Emperor, The Judge, The Redanman and Boy for the first time in their home locales.

Visit Mac at Rivermont.  Sheehy once he joins a heathland club.  I will continue to avoid JB and Cheech.  And many more.

Very happy to have met many new GCAers in 2012.. looking forward to more of the same in 2013!

Nothing in golf will compare to being at Game 4 of the World Series this year to see the Giants win it.

That being said, I look forward to attending the Walker Cup with one of my close friends.  (Hopefully he gets into Shinnecock by then)

Thinking about doing the Carnegie Shield. Will not challenge anyone, only post respectable scores, but might surprise myself. Other options in the area (Brora, Golspie) make this an interesting consideration. Would appreciate any thoughts on this idea.

I am sure we have all began to make our 2013 lists (and are checking them twice).

What NEW places are you all planning on or hoping to visit in 2013?

My top 3 on the radar...

1. Merion (stars are hopefully aligning)
2. Mountain Lake (will be my first Raynor!)
3. Streamsong (booked...not sure which course though)

4...Win "The Match".  I think it is my year.  I plan on being at least 10 up after January.

Milwaukee CC is an excellent call. That should come off my list, too.

Week in NY, Long Island, Philadelphia.

Fingers crossed for 2013.

I know its hard to believe, but Sheehy has been a bit hard done by.  I am not religious man so praying is out.  I am also not in a position to pull strings, so nepotism (in the gca.com family sense) is out.  Nonetheless, I wish him all success in obtaining heathland membership even if the bugger is being very picky!

For myself

Trip to Aberdeen for Cruden Bay, R Aberdeen, Carnasty Burnside & Montrose Medal

Maybe a trip down to Deal when S Warren is in town

Maybe Ganton with Sheehy - we need to get off our asses

I must make the effort to see The Sacred 9 - I don't know what my problem has been

As always, R Ashdown Forest & Pulborough are on the list - though like Ganton, I wonder if these places actually exist

Lindrick too has been pulling at my strings...

Perhaps Buda, but I seriously doubt it

Ciao

Play some golf in the Pacific Northwest - Oregon, Washington and BC. And, a third trip to The Masters to see an Irishman putting on the green, would be nice!

Jonathan

I've played in the Shield ~25 times, starting in 1981.  I would highly recommend it as great way to play Dornoch, with the course in peak condition, from the back tees, in a competitive environment and with lots of camaraderie.  You also get to play the course cheap, with ~$150 covering at least two rounds on the Championship course, (opportunity for 1-5 more if you qualify for match play) and one on the Struie (for non-qualifiers).  There are usually low cost rounds at other tournaments in Golspie, Brora and Tain during that period too.  Le me know if you neeed more info or opinions.

1.  France

2.  Get back to Deal and open up another can of whoop a$$ on Sheehy.

3.  Georgia - Lots of good golf and a lot of great friends to visit.

4.  Camargo - Time to see this bad boy.

5.  Seminole - Reunite with some old friends and meet some new ones (not Saltzman).
