"I don't mind the new hillside assuming it is more functional for golfers."

It may be more "functional" or easier.  But it wasn't a good idea on great historic course like Toronto where challenge and a natural aesthetic are important.  I guess the 6th at Royal Dornoch could be made more functional with a few terraces added to its banks.

Anyway moving on.  I played the 6th green at Burnham before Hawtree worked on it but I don't really remember it.   I did play the current 6th soon after it was redone, I thought it was on the severe side and I'm not sure about the surrounding mounding:  not the best but not terrible, it's a bit uniform.

Hawtree occasionally adds a mounding complex.  See the 18th at Carnoustie and 18th on Sunn New.   So I wonder if this has any bearing on the mounding to be added on TOC

Also does anyone know in detail what Hawtree and the R&A did at Muirfield?  All I heard was that some bunkers were brought in closer to the greens.  But I suspect some mounds may have been added to green surrounds (6th?).

Paul,

I'll see if I can get a copy of the document that was circulated to HCEG members outlining changes.  I do know that the 6th green was extended at the back by several yards.
In July I will be riding two stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity, including Mont Ventoux for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I don't remember the old green either.  I also don't remember what was behind the green, but I bet the large dune was already there.  I don't recall a view past the green.
